Is there a special trick how you achieved this block design ?
AngelinaNR gave the pattern and tutorial for this pattern. She used the tri rex ruler for her center which I think is easier but I used my 60* ruler because that’s what I had. If you go to the tutorial section, it is under Boxes of Strings title. We all loved the pattern so much that this thread was started so we could post our progress. Awesome way to use up scraps!

Just beautiful Tartan! Love the border. A scrappy one is on my bucket list.

OK I finished making the blocks using paper foundation. Now I have to put the blocks into columns (rows). When do I take out the paper??? I'll still have bias edges on the columns (rows). Do I wait until the top is completely finished with a border on it?

I usually remove paper after I've finished the block but you have to pay attention to the biased edge & not stretch it out.

Just found this and think I would like to join in. I see that I am making a slow start but I have to see if I have enough of a dark color , also if I have a tri recs ruler. Also have to decide to use either paper or muslin.

Sunrise, I made a triangle template instead of buying a new ruler to cut the dark triangles. I know some people started sewing with the strips & Strings they had on hand, & planned to continue as new strips joined their collection as they made other quilts. I didn’t use a foundation paper or muslin. I cut side pieces to fit alongside the triangle & sewed strings to fit that space. Mine worked out well & I used all my triangles & the Strings I had up to that point.
