Judy, I like how you've marked each piece to remember how you want them laid out. Sometimes I use straight pins to attach numbered scraps of paper to sections. Your method looks neater.

I have to confess, I did not use #'s. I used letters. I knew I would mess up and repeat squares next to each other if I did not mark some way. I am really enjoying the challenge , hope everyone else is also. We be anxiously to see everyone's quilts.

Thanks gals! I'm having with this too. I have an idea for another possible GSS I want to run past the group:

I was thinking of doing scrappy florals for my primary, greens for my secondary and beige/light browns for the background. The florals would be all over the place in color, size, scale, etc. Can you guys picture this? What do you think? If it's a 'thumbs down' that's okay.

Irene I love the brown's. I have lots of browns too
    Kathryn love the reds!
Judy love how you are using red as your background color and Blue as your primary I am sure it will be stunning!
Jane another beautiful red center and white background!

Jane I think your idea would work with the scrappy florals and greens as your secondary color.

Here is my Step # 2: My background squares have to much color in them, I think but I cut all of them all ready so sticking with it. I am a Bonnie Hunter follower so the scrappier the better right

Jane if your florals are bright in your face with bold backgrounds it should work. I think light or white backgrounds would recede and you would lose the effect your primary color is supposed to give.

Do you have any precuts or cut out scrappies you could audition next to some green and beige fabrics? Use a reducer or take a photo?

Welcome, erindipity! We're having a blast. Look through the pages here & look online for color combo ideas and let us know what you've chosen.

Great idea, quiltmouse and I agree about the light florals. No, I haven't cut anything yet. Still in the 'thinking' phase.

Jane, I have florals left from the Florabunda quilt top. I bought more florals to trade blocks with someone to make my Florabunda quilt top bigger--but it didn't happen. I haven't sewn the extra Florabunda blocks yet, and I was thinking that I could use some of the floral fabric to make a second Giant Swoon. I really like how Jaba made a front and back for her Florabunda, and I thought I'd try that too. But then, I didn't have a variety of yellows, but now I'm trading with someone for yellows! ...so, I'm thinking about florals too... with yellow and green. I can't say I have a lot of greens, but seeing the 30's fabric Swoon block pictured made me remember I've got 30's fabric, and probably have some greens there...
