OK, hitch me back up to the wagon. No more I tell you! Keep me away from Joanns! :D

Good for you DustyMomma. While moving my sewing space I have so far counted 255 pieces of fabric--not counting FQ's. Yes I need this too!

I have been pretty good about not buying fabric, but needed some for a project I am working on. Instead of buying just what I needed I went overboard. bought way more than I need at this time. UGH. it was all on sale does that count. I need some lighter colored batiks for a project, all I have in my stash is mediums to dark batiks.

Cindy I'm with you on the problem of finding only mediums to darks in the stash. Got started on a quilt and definitely too little contrast and way too dark to be comforting and uplifting. So I had a delightful outing with BFF who is also a fabricaholic and we found lots of beautiful goodies then enjoyed lunch together. I was very proud of myself. I only got fabrics for the project in mind and only one yard of each. Yes some will be left over, but its all fabric that works together and with what I already have. So win-win on this one.

If I had a batiks only store that close to me, I think they'd have to sell me stock in the place! I always buy more than I need for a project. I never know when I might want to add a little something to the project, or I'm scared I might make a mistake either in cutting or piecing that is so bad I want to start over. Working with FQ's I can't replace for the batik blocks swap I'm doing is a little nerve-wracking for me.

My problem when I went to Joann's yesterday was I was going to get 2 yards of fusible flannel and had to wait in this long line for the cutting table. I said well, I'll go look & see what they have in bug fabrics in case I find something to coordinate with one I have that I didn't have much of. I came back with it, a coordinating fabric to a puppy fabric I have a remnant of that I bought a yr ago, and 4 that were on sale that I'd been looking for an excuse to buy. I took the end of bolt 2+ yards on 2 of them & 2 yards each of the rest. Yep, even with my 25% off your total purchase coupon I earned last weekend, I still spent $100. So, I say that's it, I'm officially back on the wagon! Needing some stuff for projects is what started this, then I found out last week was Joann's huge twice a yr sale & I've been off the wagon ever since. Well, I'm officially back on it. Whip me with a wet noodle if I stash buy again for a while!

I had a similar feeling when I admitted my fall! My fabric spending and impulse purchasing is definitely down.

Cheers, K

oh dear me, oh my......I work at a quilt shop. I have NOT bought any fabric in months! then today a guy comes in and says he was cleaning out a house left in an estate and found lots of sewing stuff and did I know who could use it? FREE! I gave away 3 packages of Warm and Natural queen sized batting, a package of Dream Cotton batting and have packaged up 3 boxes to bring to guild for the free table. I am now washing the third load of stuff I'm going to keep. There's lots of flannel, a 4 yard piece of denim and lots, lots of quality quilting cotton. I've got about 40 yards hanging to dry so far plus another box full I have to sort thru. Oh dear (secretly saying goodie, goodie, goodie....)

well, I finally finished washing, drying and ironing everything. there's over 112 yards of fabric, flannel, one piece of denim and the rest is all quilting cotton. here's my question - is it really okay if I make super simple quilts to be donated to the charity I work for ( a battered woman's shelter) so that I can get some of this moved out of the house? I would maybe make some jelly roll race type quilts using fatter strips - about 3 inches or more. I would love to give my best work for this charity - but it takes too long. I'm considering also doing big blocks - like 8 inches or so to use up this new stash. Any thoughts?

Absolutely it would be okay to make any kind of quilt to donate to this cause!
