Forgot to say....the Mystery quilt is wonderful. I love that pattern and the colors in it. That would be a fun one to make.

I have begun machine quilting the sampler. That laying it over your left shoulder is going to take some practice. This one I am using the walking foot on and stitching in the ditch. I hope to be finished with it at the end of the week. Then it will be on to my first binding.
Of course I have designed the 3 window quilts for the bay window and have bought the fabrics for the tops and have enlarged the first set of drawings for the first appliqued block. So I guess I'm actually loosing ground. But I'm working everyday on the quilts. About 2 hours worth. |
UFO finished....

Finally finished a quilt!! Had this one started as a lap quilt for my car, but I found out about a fundraiser for the National Parkinson Foundation being held in our local community. Time was short and this was a lap quilt, so I had time to finish this small UFO. My Dad suffered with this terrible disease so it's also in honor of him. There's going to be a big book sale along with items donated for the raffle. I hope they raise lots of money.

Beautiful quilt Weasie!
|
Weasie: Love your quilt, both front and back! Hope it brings in a lot of money.
|
If they don't like the front...they will like the back...either way a very nice quilt...I like the simple cross hatch quilting..Score a big one for you...a UFO for a cause, Weasie.
|
Lovely colors and I like the simple quilting. The beauty of the blocks shines through.

WooHoo! Two more finishes. Hoping I can add one next week after I get the binding on my TATW. Got it back from LA-er yesterday and she did a fabulous job, as usual. Plus, I am working on a selvedge jacket made with a sweatshirt as the foundation. Almost done with sleeves and half of back. Then only will have the front two pieces and rest of back plus sewing it back together. Then fingers crossed that it fits! This will be my 3rd attempt. Both of the previous ones turned out too small with no stretch by the time I sewed the strips on. This time, I found a huge XL sweatshirt, which has been on the shelf as a ufo for about 9 months, so hoping it will be a success.

Love the quilts. Agree that the back of the one is as nice as the front. Hope everyone keeps working hard.
|
Katie: Congrats on the finish! I am still in the beginners phase of the applique learning curve. Love your wreath, what a fun bunch of blooms and bugs! Bet they were a lot of fun to do. Especially love that grasshopper!

Well finally! My first finish for this year. This one is for my grandson. It is much smaller than my normal quilt since its for a twin sized bed. It measures 90 X 76. Its two sided, both sides are made totally of scraps.
|
Katie, congrats on your finished flower wreath. It's very pretty. I really like it.
Emma, Congrates on your 1st completed UFO project of the year. I wonder, can you count it as 2 projects verse 1, since it's 2 sided? Anyway, it's very nice and I'm sure your grandson will like the quilt. |
Hi Ladies,Thank you for your lovely comments on my quilt.I had a lot of fun making the quilt especially using the various decorative stitches on my machine.Emma your quilt that you made is really beautiful.Happy Quilting.Hugs Katie

I vote for a two quilt finish, Emma...delightful quilt(s)......
|
Today I turned in 5 quilts at our Quilts for Kids gathering. 3 were pieced by others and I did the quilting, but 2 were my own UFO's. I'm now down to just 7 quilt tops that are my UFO's! Yay!!
|
Emma, I love both sides!
|
Blue Beauties, Emma S. Lovely work. Congratulations!
|
Emma, that quilt is beautiful! I vote it counts as two finishes, also! Now that we are in the hot season, I may get some things done! Kudos to all who are finishing those UFOs. I made a list of mine. OH MY! Later, gators!

I don't always post but I finally finished a big quilt. I participated in several swaps on this board including a patriotic block swap in 2013. I decided to make a large quilt from the blocks and finally finished the quilting.

What a nice finish....kudos Annaquilts:thumbup:

Anna: That turned out beautifully. Love the way you laid out and combined all of the diverse blocks. Great quilt!
Thanks everyone for the feedback on my quilt/quilts. I am such a prolific flimsy maker that I figure I can finish two tops and combine them to make one quilt and cut down the number I make. So thanks to your recommendations I just doubled the number of quilts I made so far this year. Still want to try for a quilt a month even though it is late in the year. I have five more sandwiched and waiting to be quilted so it isn't as impossible as it sounds. The quilting on the current finish was quilted with a simple cross hatch so from quilting to finish it only took a week. The next one will be FM so it will take a little longer. |
I love your blue quilts. And I love the reversible-ness of it. Keep up the good work and I hope you reach your goal of 12 quilts this year.
|
Love it
I never would have thought of those blocks for a patriotic quilt. It is fantastic.
You all are going to laugh at me. I finished my quilt club name tag. I had to do it three times to get it done. I ended up fusing and satin stitching it together rather than using either the piecing or paper piecing techniques that were suggested. Im so glad my mentor suggested it. I'm straight line quilting the sampler. Its the largest I have quilted so far. It is 54 x 78 |
Emma your blue quilts are exquisite and have so many small pieces. Best wishes with your goal of completing 12 quilts.
|
Annaquilts....I love your red and blue patriotic quilt. It is gorgeous. Now you are ready for those patriotic holidays coming up.
|
Wow! Loving all the finishes. Everyone is really working hard. Since I have gotten to be a better quilter, I too, have tried to make the back of the quilt just as interesting as the front side. Doesn't always work out but makes it more fun for me. You will see the back of my TATW one in a week, I am hoping. I have rounded the first corner and about 6 inches away from the 2nd. (Hand binding part). I only do this at night so takes a while..too many other things int he daylight hours.
|
I certainly do love seeing all the finished quilts!! I'm way behind but I think I'm at a point where I can get back into the groove.
Katie ... Your Garden Blooms quilt is adorable. Especially love the grasshopper! Emma ... Love what you did with the front & back of your grandson's quilt! Just beautiful! Anna ... Fantastic job done on the patriotic red, white & blue quilt. Hope all the Moms had a wonderful Mother's Day! |
I picked up a community quilt to machine quilt and bind to add to my UFO list. I am giving myself a deadline of June 8th the next meeting of the community group.

Judy: I have been eyeing the patterns for the backpacks, I think their just perfect for the life style of any teen. Yours however is above and beyond. What a great job you did. Love all the bling and I'm absolutely sure your granddaughter will too. What a great present!

I think it is fantastic. Love the asian fabrics and the catch. Was it hard to do?

Well, this isn't a quilt, but has been a major UFO hanging over my head! We moved two months ago and I only had sheer curtains that were too long for the windows. This weekend I trimmed them to the right length and made blue and white liners for them. So now I don't have to hide in the bathroom when I change my clothes. :D

Beautiful backpack/purse. Lovely fabric and embellishment. She should be in love with her Grandma because you are obviously in love with her.
|
Ha! Thanks Annaquilts! My mom is visiting, otherwise, it probably wouldn't even have been on the radar. :o
