My Gramma died 11 years ago, and I received all of her quilting stuff. A lot of her stuff I couldn't use because of the poor quality(a bargain is a bargain) she also didn't care if the material was all cotton, so after going through everything, I probably ended up with 15 large totes. Then my mom passes 2 years ago, and received 25 large totes, material and laces and such, then the quilting pariphenalia . Then, when my older sister passed away in july, we had to get the appt. emptied out or pay her rent so everything was just stuck in bags and totes and put in sister's storage shed. So last weekend my younger sis and I decided to start going through it. I brought home 8 boxes of material one full box of Ufo's, and we're still not half way through it, we have a guest quarters behind our house(25X32) and it is 3/4 way full of sewing stuff. so I have my UFO's, Gram's UFO's, Mom's Ufo's and my sister Genine's UFO's. But, I must also say I have found some treasures in some of those UFO's. Found a quilt top made from tri-chem painted blocks that we made when my baby sister was 4 years old, she's now 46, it's beautiful, and all 4 of us girls have signed the blocks we made, what a treasure.

Leta, that is a wonderful quilt and the overall quilting looks great.

Am I glad the boys don't quilt. I'm the baby of the family and that sounds scary to me.

Yes Annie...it will be for QOV...Will get backing for it before it goes to the LA'er...but have to get it sewn first. Have 2 blocks done...then out guild is inspiring us to eliminate stars with a 12 block mystery quilt in 12 and 6" blocks.another quilt in the making but my mind is churning....
You folks make me smile, laugh and cry...lovely quilting, Leta...yup I have an OCD sister, too. And one almost like a younger twin..that's even scarier. Martina's train quilt is a whistleblower for sure... Lucinda to come from a family of quilters...what a rich heritage...grieving for the ones missing could be easier with this shared gift. Oh the treasures you are uncovering... After 2 days of working, time to make the house livable...darn farmer doesn't clean up after he fixes his own meals.... |

Makes me laugh and laugh Leta! Are you two opposites? My sister and I really were opposites most of the time. She was bright and bold and me shy and a bit reserved and the fabrics we were drawn to reflected that.
I think she finally "got it", as her main hobby now is being a roller derby queen (truly). I would break my neck trying to do that!! |
Thanks Gladdie, and all the rest for your support.

Cool quilt Martina. great idea to Putin the train tracks.
Leta, congratulations on getting in the show! Love the way you quilted it. Rob |
Kwiltkrazy that is a lot of UFOs. I'm glad your finding those treasures. Leta imitation is a great compliment but the world sure would be boring if we're all alike. It's nice she found what makes her happy.
