In the next few days I will tally and give an official count so far this month. We are off to a good month. Thank-you everyone.

happylab 01-17-2018 12:42 PM

FYI, a friendly reminder for those who follow along on the VQW thread. This weekend is the VQW (virtual quilt weekend). For those of you who don't know, members from the board will post their project goals for the weekend, post pics and chat throughout the weekend. This is done usually once a month on 3 day weekends. It usually starts on Friday, but sometimes she starts a day earlier. So if you are interested be on the outlook.

this little ornament is ready for next Christmas. The other still needs 7 more y seams, then basting, quilting, and binding.

Petthefabric.....great finish on stash scrappy sampler. Turned out awesome.

Krisb....those are so beautiful.. I really like them both. Ornament panel is darling...and fuzzy cut border is perfect...Good job, girl!

drop off to quilter successful...woohoo! I made my "very" short list for Road to Calif. quilt show for tomorrow. Getting excited. Cleaned sewing nook, sewing machine, and started on poor Rocky's arms today....just need to stuff them and attach. Also, started cutting star appliqués for my next patriotic quilt needed for raffle. Not sure if I'll trapunto but we'll see. Will finish Rocky on Friday.

I found another UFO (geesh).. Really not a UFO...just extra blocks from a quilt I made last year that wasn't needed when I resized quilt. However, I'll whip out a donation quilt and get rid of them.

Loving all you ladies lovely finishes just keep the gorgeous work up. Still can't work it into my budget to get my 401A functional to do my domestic quilting, but it will happen. Thanks 'happylab,' for the reminder of the up and coming VQW. Looking forward to that also. Stay warm everyone.

First UFO finish for 2018. Too late for 2017 Christmas, or maybe very early for 2018 Christmas. Got tired of piecing Bonnie H's mystery and had to do a little hand work. This UFO was calling my name. Glad to finish it. I like it...it looks so old fashioned to me, I am going to use it as a table topper during the Christmas Season.

Teen 01-17-2018 05:37 PM

Oh, Jane! I absolutely love this. It definitely does have a vintage look to it.Beautiful,work...congrats on the finish...

Wow, January has started off with a bang!! SO many finishes already!!

Well, I won't be able to get my Lone Star finished in time for MQX. And while I had an "idea" for what to submit for the "Dotty for MQX Challenge", I knew that wouldn't get completed in time either. I have a commission quilt (photo-memory quilt) to do, and that will (hopefully) go on the frame by the beginning of next week.

So, still trying to knock out those UFO's... but not wanting to load anything huge on the frame (commission quilt comes first, right?)...I dug around in the plastic shoeboxes for SOMETHING to work on. Dug out a UFO from the 2009 Carolina Shop Hop. These blocks would have normally joined with different blocks from different shops... but in 2010, I happened to be "hanging out" with one shop owner as she prepped for the 2010 Shop Hop, and I volunteered to "clean out" the baggies that had the "block kits" from 2009... which "left overs" she then gave to me.
So here I had all these "block kits"... that I quickly grew to NOT be happy with... which is why this is a UFO... but I find myself very unable to throw away fabric/blocks/orphans.

Then, inspiration struck!! These are PERFECT for the "Dotty for MQX Challenge".
So, this will be finished by Sunday, at which time I will take pics for submission to MQX.
I think I'm going to name this "I Spotted a UFO - Oh My Eyes!!"
First pic is on the design wall, second (obviously) is on the frame. I'm not doing anything major for the quilting, as it won't show up very well anyway.

D.Henson 01-17-2018 07:06 PM

Jane: beautiful finish. I sure like the hand quilting. It will make a great table topper.

You cant see the hand quilting....It is beige and in the ditch. The black stitch is an embroidery decorative stitch. The in the ditch makes it "puffy" and it attaches it to the backing.

Leta... Rock on!! This turned out beautiful. I have no idea what it was suppose to look like from original kit but this inspiration is beautiful...

krista...I'm speechless. So gorgeous... Get'r, done!!, woohoo..

Jane Quilter 01-18-2018 05:48 AM

kristakz, your quilt truly looks 3 dimensional. And the purple is stunning. Nice job, I just love it.

sunrise450 01-18-2018 06:44 AM

kristakz Your quilt is so beautiful! This has probably been asked before but just have to know. Is your quilt difficult to made? Also where is the pattern located?

Thanks! It's not that difficult technically, since it's all rectangles and half-square triangles. But it's a whole-cloth design, so a bit challenging to keep all the bits straight. It's my own design, and I'm just about done writing the pattern, but it's not ready yet.

Sync 01-18-2018 10:46 AM

Jane, that is gorgeous. Congrats on that fabulous finish.

Sync 01-18-2018 10:48 AM

Krista and Leta nice finishes.

Fraew 01-18-2018 01:30 PM

Love your finish Jane! So tempting to make that my next UFO.:D

Dedemac 01-18-2018 02:57 PM

Thank you all for the great comments. Delivered it yesterday and she loved it.

Great sampler, when was the BOM? I have followed a few but they don't look familiar.

Not working tomorrow so I think I will work on a WIP for a while. Need to do some time on DH'S GFG. Then next UFO will be the table runner. And will join in the VQW this weekend.

boykinsmommy 01-18-2018 03:17 PM

Ok I'm in!

After looking through the pages at all the jobs started, finished, almost finished, etc, I'm ready to jump on board. It was on my mind to take out, sort and decide on UFO's this year. I have 3 jobs to finish first (customer's always come first) but then, as soon as those are done it is time to get cracking. I first have to count up how many I have....;) I remember the first time I heard the term UFO and thought, "Oh, I should be so lucky to ever even have one". yeah well, I would safely say I have "more than one". LOL!!

oksewglad 01-18-2018 03:48 PM

Welcome boykinsmommy.....you will love the support given by everyone...one for all and all for one! Get those UFO's done!

Teen 01-18-2018 05:24 PM

DEDEmak
It was in 2017, Quilting Board, Block of the Month. New Quilting Bee, month 2017. Each month was listed seperately. I think it started in Jan and thru Nov.

Dedemac 01-19-2018 05:46 AM

Petthefabric,

Thank you I did follow it, but didn't do the blocks ( I usually do 12 inch blocks ). I do have orphan blocks form the 2013 BOM, those a one of my UFO's what to do with them.:o

Welcome Boykinsmommy you will find great support here, I have.

Anoka Quilter 01-19-2018 07:52 AM

Jane Quilter love the finish. Now just don't forget where you put it so you can bring it out next year for the holidays.

Letawellman, good use of the blocks. I really like the way you put them together. I smell a finish.

Kristakz, that is stunning. I didn't realize it was your pattern. I though it was the Labyrinth quilt pattern. How big is it?

retiredteacher09 01-19-2018 09:09 AM

Welcome, boykinsmommy!

Thanks! It is 110x106", although I just finished writing the pattern and added an option to make it 83x80", for those who don't want a King size quilt.

boykinsmommy 01-19-2018 09:15 AM

Thanks for the warm welcome! Please feel free to nag, poke, prod or drag me by my heels...lol!!

boykinsmommy 01-19-2018 05:51 PM

I think I need an intervention///

Ok, so in the spirit of getting ready for this challenge, I have been cleaning out my craft room. This is a yearly ritual because every year when Christmas comes, my room looks like Christmas threw up all over it.

So, as I have been cleaning and re-organizing I decided to go through all my fabric and yarns. I have two garbage bags full to throw away. Yes, two. I haven't even touched my scrapbooking/stamping supplies or my general craft supplies.

Ok, so that's a really great start, however, I also decided to organize my UFO's and make a list so I know exactly what needs to be done and where it is...no more excuses right? Well.....that leaves me with, no kidding, 19....19!!! UFO's from quilting alone....granted, not all of them have been started, they've been sitting in a kit waiting for the end of the world I guess. I also can say that I did not buy all of them, they were gifts through the years that were nice but not exactly my cup of tea so there they sat. Everything else though is all me....

Did I mention that I scrapbook too? Um yeah, my oldest I have until his 3rd birthday, my middlest, his first Easter and my youngest? I have an album and cover page.

As for knitting...we won't talk about the kit I just received today....the two hats I am making for a customer right now and the many patterns that are just waiting for something...Oh and i bought on clearance a really cute pattern for slippers and yarn for fingerless gloves.

yup, I need an intervention. Somehow I think I can do it all and my days are endless and my tendons won't give up the ghost. No more purchases until I give away or make every single one of these projects!!! I mean it..oh look! A sale!! LOL!!!

OK, here it is, "officially" finished. Quilted and bound. Yay me, a January completion!!
I didn't get real fancy with the quilting, as I could see right from the start that any stitching was going to be pretty much "absorbed" by the busy fabric.

I just need to look up the sleeve requirements on MQX's website, and send off my paperwork.
I'll take better pics tomorrow. Hmmm, wonder if there will be enough snow left to make a good background?

boykinsmommy 01-19-2018 06:05 PM

Nice job!! Congratulations Letawellman!

Jane Quilter 01-19-2018 06:22 PM

wow letawellman, your quilt is such an illusion. Sometimes I see squares, sometimes I see large dark circles. I can't help staring at it. Are you trying to hypnotize me? You quilt is a real beauty. Pattern would be great as a scrappy too.

oksewglad 01-19-2018 07:05 PM

Great finish, Leta! Everything points in the right direction!

rryder 01-20-2018 03:03 AM

Oh wow- great finish Leta. The pieced design is gorgeous and the quilting you decided to do enhances the piecing. This is a fantastic piece. Let us know how it goes with MQX!

sunrise450 01-20-2018 06:59 AM

I just finished a "bonus" UFO. That is, one that did not even make my UFO list initially. But I needed something to test a new pantograph on yesterday, and this quilt was perfect for it. So I got it quilted, and even bound it today. Poor little thing has been hanging in the closet for 2 years, but now it's done!

Great finish, Krista.....this inspired me to pull out a pattern of a cross pattern to see if I have any stash collections that could work for it. Very pretty....2 years...Slam!

One of Rocky's arms was sewn on today and then ran out of the color yarn for it. I should have something in my stash for it. If not, I'll use embroidery thread....Rocky will be sitting on my shelf by weekends end...

Sync 01-20-2018 03:12 PM

Great finish Krista.

oksewglad 01-20-2018 06:26 PM

A++, Krista! Looking forward to Rocky with arms.
