I’ve got one that is at least 34 years old. It’s an art quilt that I pieced with both traditional blocks and 3 dimensional blocks, then sandwiched, but due to time constraints (it was due to be shown at an art gallery), I did not finish the quilting, just did some tacking here and there and used a temporary binding to hold it together for the show and sent it off intending to finish it when it came back. That would have been in lthe fall of either 1981, 1982 or 1983.....

I cannot even begin to compete on the "oldest UFO" thread. I'll have to be happy with my claim to "most" (or at least way up there, with 41). I've only been quilting since 2004, and my current oldest UFO is the labyrinth on deck for this month, which is from 2013. Until I bought my longarm in 2012, I had zero UFOs - there was a time when I actually made a top and quilted it, before starting anything new. Ah, the good old days ...

Dedemac, don't you just hate it when the reality slaps you upside your head in the middle of your delusion? lol I recently "found" some UFOs that I totally forgot I had. So my count grew as well.

Congratulations on the finishes Jaba and Connie! I'm still trying to decide which UFO to work on-- I'm definitely not up for the ancient one....

My oldest I've given myself permission to never finish. There, that's as finished as they'll get in my lifetime. Occasionally I learn something that applies to those old UFO's and progress a step, then back to the "finished" pile. The UFO I intend to finish are making progress. One got quilted and needs binding. One is on the LA and needs a pattern. One became a flimsy and I'll quilt and bind it soon.

I'm not stressed, just progressing toward a goal.

MadQuilter, that's a big yep! Since the holidays are officially over for us, I've been making a list of things I want to finish in the next year or two, 10 quilting related and 4 cross stitch projects that need finishing, 9 that need mounting. Plus I need to make a pair of mittens for myself. There are also 2 quilts that just need to be mailed, maybe that's this week's goal. Start small and I shall triumph!
2 of the quilting projects are WIP'S a Jinny Beyer BOM from crafsty 2013 that I am doing as much by hand as possible, and a GFG that my DH's grandmother started maybe in th 50's or 60's.

Just finished piecing the BH mystery. Brought with me to the tiny house En Provence and Alletierre, finished tops. So I will join you in declaring these as my first UFO’s to finish. Also have JN Summer solstice almost pieced, and three wall hangings. My goal is to work only on UFO’s until we go back to the big house April 1. Oops, forgot the $5 quilt club quilt. So..can I layer, quilt, and bind four quilts and three wall hangings in three months? Only The Shadow knows.

Since I don't have any UFO's (definitely not bragging since its a challenge to maintain), I've been deligently working on a quilt that I am adding appliqué. However, I keep adding appliqué beyond what I first visualized so this quilt is gonna take longer than anticipated. I do have a "must do" list for two quilts..one patriotic to be raffled at vet reunion in June and another one for a 100 year old b-day for my second cousin. I should probably prioritize that last one, bless his heart. I'll post pic when current one is done...

Wouldn't it be cool to do a UFO swap? I was giggling over what Rob said and thought to myself that what isn't appealing for one quilter may be appealing to another. I would so finish this quilt for him. Lol!

How old is my oldest UFO? Well, the oldest one that I did in its entirety is 23. It was the quilt I was hand quilting when my dad was in hospice, and it will be finished this year. The oldest that is partially mine is likely 50-60. It was in the stuff that I got from my aunt, born in 1903, via my mother. Did deconstruct and reconstruct the Dresden plate blocks (they wouldn’t lie flat) and applique them to a background and joined the blocks and added a border but it is in the waiting to be layered, quilted and bound pile—with its 8 closest friends. It will would be nice it any two of them were the same size and could be a reversible quilt, but no such luck.
