I've been away for a week and have enjoyed reading the posts and seeing the pics of the lovely quilts. I finished three but forgot to take pics before I took them to the church. I'll see if I can get pics tomorrow and share. These three were ones I started last fall and just got back to.
I'm currently working on three more UFOs that are strips. I tend to cut leftover fabric into strips to make prayer quilts. I count them as UFOs since the strips are all hanging on hangers behind the closet door just waiting for me to have time to assemble them. The pic shows what is left after the three tops I've made. I sometimes think they multiply behind the door! |

UFO finish counting day is here!🎇
Counting finishes by: SBG—any UFO to you is a UFO to us—especially one as pretty as your afghan 👍 CK—since about half of us still can’t figure out how to post pictures anyway..why not count it? Looking forward to seeing It when you can share 👏 OSG—hope you figure out the picture posting. The directions on the Help forum worked for me. 😀 I am declaring my Frolic quilt finished. There is a photo of the top on the BH mystery thread. These 4 bring the grand total to 17. 🥳 Let’s keep going💪; we can still get there! We have an extra February day, after all. |

Stitching the binding on a UFO baby quilt that has been sitting around since last fall. Will post a photo tomorrow or Monday. One baby quilt down and three more to go!
Belfrybat, love the idea of the handing the strips on hangers. Duh, why haven't we all thought of that. Can you post a photo of one of your strip quilts so we can steal your idea. :o I am into serious stash depletion mode this year. |
I really enjoyed seeing all of the finishes and reading your posts.
I’m sewing, but not on UFO’s. I completed my RWB and valentine guild challenge wall hanging. But I’m going back on track. My UFO’s; a Halloween scrappy from all stash and a pink and aqua quilt. Not sure they will be completed in a week, but pushing to complete 1 UFO. I just may have to dig out an UFO Easter table runner and complete for February. I’m still slowly working on my BHMQ- frolic. Oh well back to sewing/quilting. |
I've got another long term ( ? 7 years) project that needs to have the last row and borders sewn on, then quilt, and bind. The reminder that we've got another week and even an extra day may just give me the kick in the pants that I need!

Here are my Feb UFO completions...wish I had a better place to take pics. I think I need a clothes line just to take them! The first the 20 yo that I quilted a pantograph on. The second was made by my sister for PL in her area. I FMQ "l's in the second border, a loopy swirl in the first and an overall zigzag in the center.
|
Oksewglad, Love your quilts especially the red, white, and blue! That's a lot of work.

I finished my Spider table topper. The spiders are collages and made to look like Orb Spiders or often called Halloween Spiders.
Last year I bought indoor/outdoor fabric to make a ruler/template carrying bag. I finished it today!! It is huge. My Large stripology ruler is around 24" and it slides in with extra space. Don't know if it will count towards UFO's but I am so glad to have it finished and ready for class next week. |
Bugaroo- I love orb weaver spiders , they make such beautiful webs. Yours turned out great!
Oksewglad, congratulations on the finishes. I especially like the red white and blue one and the way you quilted it. Belfrybat- great way to store strips. I’m in the middle of quilting a UFO that I hope to finish before the end of the month. Rob |
Oksewglad....love love love the patriotic finish...cool quilting, too. And Sis's UFO is darling.
Bugaroo...goodness... The spider quilt is so unique and creative. Turned out fabulous. Your tote is awesome. Loving the parrot fabric.. Looking forward to seeing your finish, Rob.. I made a table runner today...applique and hand embroidery on toweling. Just a fun colorful project to lift me up from the Browns of the wildlife quilt WIP. Can't stay in brown for long..lol.. |

Here is my runner, if interested..
|
Fun finishes all around...love the spider one...when I see a spider in the house I leave it...it's finding something to eat (like little gnats and flies) In warmer weather I set them outdoors.
Sweet little towel, Teen. I'm hankering to do something that says spring...tired of snowmen here. Belfry if I can tell, your hanger is one of those coated ones...strips won't fall off easily, right? |
oksewglad: Awesome finishes. Congratulations!
Bugaroo: Very nice tote bag. I like your spider quilt too but, unlike oksewglad, I dispose of spiders. Just this morning, I went to take my coffee cup from my coffee maker and a spider was on the handle. Yuck. It gave me the shivers. The strange part is I had only set the cup there a few minutes before. I saw part of a web too. Bye-bye spider. Teen: Adorable runner. |
Neat table runner- I really like both the applique and the button details- great way to get out of the browns for a while!
Rob |
Teen, that's a beautiful runner. Your fabric choices are wonderful!
|
Thanks to Teen and Bugaroo we are up to 20, so the end is in slight! Back to the sewing machine for me.
|
Oksewglad and bugaroo, very nice finished projects. The rwb quilt is very nice, I may just need to borrow the pattern. The spider project is scary perfect. I know a niece who would like the pattern made into a fill size quilt. No I have another quilt in the works for her right now. My goal to have that completed in 2 weeks. Yes, it’s a UFO. Enjoy sewing/quilting.

Belfrybat, I am going to copy your storage/organization idea for 2.5 strips of left over material. So smart!!
Teen - Love your simple runner of vase and flowers. I agree it is spring or summer wishes!! Retiredteacher09 - I was also a teacher and one day leaving school, a spider on the wind blew on to my hand. Bit me between thumb and finger. SO SO SO SO painful. I ended up at hospital. They drew a circle to see if red streaks spread (they did not) but they told me that spider bites are one of the most painful experiences. I slept with ice all night to numb the pain. So I love to look at them but they must keep their distance. |
Bugaroo - Brilliant orb spider! I’m working on a Halloween quilt back now and I may “borrow” that design. It’s perfectly spooky.
|
Bugaroo: Ouch! What a strange and unfortunate way to get a spider bite.

This is a table quilt I finished quilting and binding today for my daughter. Reminds me of skies after a storm. Her favorite color is purple.
|
Pretty quilt, Bugaroo! Please remind me of the pattern name. I know I've seen it, but I can't recall it now.
|
Conchalea it's the Hunter's Star. I have the the material in light and dark blue batik Water prints to do my daughter a queen size with bright collage Koi fish around the edges.

I finished the wall hanging for the nursery. It is a row from Quilting On the Square shop, from the 2017 Row by Row experience I think. I was hoping for at least one more UFO finish for the month, but I don't think I'll have time. I've been sewing simple dresses for the girls this week; they grow so fast it's hard to keep up! The younger two have hand-me-downs, which help, but the eldest, whew! Everyone thinks she is five already!
|
Belfrybat, that’s a great way to store strips—ArtBin makes a plastic box designed for strip storage. For $17, you get a 📦, but it has straps to hold the strips down. I use an airdrying rack.
|
Bugaroo...this turned out great. Hunters Star on my bucket list. Congrats on the finish..
NZ....love the wall hanging. Just adorable. Your applique work is beautifully done. So fun to decorate for your girls, I bet. My sister made all my nieces clothes and that was a lot of work and the munchkin didn't stay in them long. They grow so fast... I pick up a UFO from quilter on Saturday. Hope to have binding on and completed on Sunday. Yea! Well laid plans etc. lol... |
Thanks, Bugaroo! I like that pattern.
I finished the 2nd pillowcase made with blocks left over from a quilt. I used 4 blocks, part of an old sheet, & some ribbon for accent. I'm counting them as 2 UFOs to add to February 's tally. |
Bugaroo: Very pretty table quilt.
NZquilter: I really like your wallhanging. How special for your girls to get dresses made by mom. |
NZquilter, your wall hanging is adorable!
|
I am going to be behind again on my February finish- hopefully will make some headway this weekend. Since it’s a birthday gift ( because I didn’t finish it for Christmas) and the birthday is March 20th And I have to send it across the country- I need to get it done. My ( need to be quilted pile isn’t going down very fast....I seem to be having a problem working on them. I guess slow and steady is all I can hope for.

Made it! Small Baby quilt. Fleece backing. My *very first* FMQ - a big loopy meander. Turns out fleece is very forgiving. Thread buries itself right in and you can't see any eyelashing or other amateur hour evidence.
2 more to go.... |
Rff1010: Very pretty baby quilt and congratulations on a wonderful job with your very first FMQ.
|
That purple fleece quilt is gorgeous!
|
Rff1010...just beautiful fleece quilt. Love it!
i picked up my UFO from LA'r today. Company tomorrow so binding planned for Sunday..yea! |
Very pretty baby quilt RFF1010 and Congratulations on your first FMQ!
Rob |
Sad to say, last day of the month and the only progress I made on this particular UFO is that I have it pressed (again!) and I've stitched the last row on. One of those weeks that life has intervened (sigh).
|
Bugaroo, love the Hunter’s Star in batiks!
NZQ, the baby row is adorable! So cute in all the ginghams. |
Love the Hunter's Star. I made a 2 color blue/off white one using the Rapid Fire Hunter's Star ruler. One of these days I will make another one. I really like the looks of it, and they are really not hard to do.
I need to go through my bins and see what's next. i have 2 stash busters started, so next should be another UFO. This week got lost to doing taxes and quilting my BFFs 6 quilts on the longarm. Now maybe I can get back to my own stuff. |
