Though I'm not too fond of hand sewing so maybe not !

lol....I don’t care for hand work either so I’m a bit surprised I’m enjoying this. I don’t work on it all the time so this will take some time. I like this pattern because it has so many varying shapes instead of just hexi’s. I did a quilt of hexi’s. this is fun to fussy cut...
Give it try and scrap bust some of those gorgeous fabrics you have.. I saw an EPP quilt where she machine embroidered some stuff and fussy cut...looked really pretty...

Anael 05-08-2021 09:20 PM

Your blocks are gorgeous!!
BTW I saw a Boho Heart completely made with polka dots and of course I had to think of you!!

lol...love me some polka dots.

Anael 05-13-2021 12:02 PM

Nice Teen!
Don't you get more scraps?

Teen 05-13-2021 04:12 PM

Actually, Anael...by using acrylic templates you are just cutting strips from scraps and turning template with each cut as you go along the strip. I see my pile decreasing.. The EPP pieces are mostly large size so it’s using more. Loving it!

Anael 05-13-2021 09:58 PM

Ok, that makes sense. How large are the blocks? I love yours but I still don't see myself hand sewing ;)

Because I finished an UFO (a small one but still an UFO LOL) I allowed myself to start a new quilt.
Here is the start of Boho Heart.

Macybaby 05-14-2021 09:40 AM

oh- I so want to start Boho Heart! That looks really fun

Anael 05-14-2021 09:47 AM

It is fun. Like the Gypsy Wife, that was fun too.

Anael.....your Boho heart blocks looks wonderful! Looks like a fun pattern! To answer your question above, the large hexi blocks are 10”.

I completed Block 3 and 4 groups. I only needed 2 of each. Only one more large hexi block group to make. The next sets of hexi blocks are a series of 5” size of diverse patterns and those are assembled to make a 10” size....those are the fillers... Those should go together quickly...won’t be long before I’m at the assembly stage.. when I finish the last large group, I’ll take a picture of all of them for you.

I've been pecking away at "Dear Jen" for about a year, and I've just decided to abandon the pattern book. I don't look forward to working on it, even though I love making 6" blocks. I think I'm going to add in blocks from Bonnie Hunter's Addicted to Scraps column, The Splendid Sampler, and other traditional sources to make a throw that's mostly Dear Jen-inspired. This will allow me to begin working on one of Jen's other, more fun patterns.

Anael 05-24-2021 05:10 AM

I think that's a great plan Mkotch! It's your quilt after all so you can decide what to do and how to finish it.

Macybaby 05-24-2021 09:58 AM

Mkotch - it's a good plan to make a change if it's no longer being fun for you. There are no awards to earn by sticking with something exactly like the pattern. I think that is one reason I prefer not to work off patterns, then I don't have any qualms about going my own direction.

I got sick of everything I was working on, and pushed it all aside and started making blocks for the BOHO Heart. I've got all the 10" and almost all of the 8" done. I'm really looking forward to making the smaller blocks, but am thinking of doing more variety and no applique.

I agree, Cathy. I don't generally follow patterns although I sure did with My Small World. I like making samplers and usually only follow block patterns, putting them together however they look best (to me).

Here is the start of Boho Heart.

And it will be an even greater finish...your colors are so fresh!

Anael 05-27-2021 06:17 AM

Thank you OK!! Before continuing with Boho Heart I had to finish a quilt for Bram, one of the grands.

Macybaby 06-02-2021 03:32 AM

I've been taking a break from most sewing - getting the flower gardens all cleaned up and planted, and then DH and I decided to put tile on the floor in the remodeled basement living area - and guess who does all the tile work in the family! Got a good start and hope to finish up laying tile this weekend.

And then once the basement is done, we'll be remodeling the kitchenette in the addition that is my sewing studio- it's all one big room so I'm not sure how that is going to work, might have to cover my sewing machines during the process. We'll be putting in two partial walls (it has a vaulted ceiling and we are only going up 8 feet) so no real demo and moderate sheetrock work. DH has sheetrock sanders that hooks to a vacuum and it works very well to keep the dust down.

Will be interesting to see how that affects my being able to sew for the summer.

Great finish!!!! This way I really like the Dear Jen. I don't like Jen's though.

Macybaby 06-07-2021 05:54 AM

That does look very nice with the sashing- congrats on a great finish!

Teen 07-01-2021 10:09 AM

Still plugging away on my Kingwell EPP Smitten pattern. I am so close to start assembling….just have a couple more 5” hexi’s to do and the joining pieces….I’ve really enjoyed working on this project…

oksewglad 07-01-2021 03:06 PM

I agree with the rest Mkotch...sashing really sets off your Dear Jen. Such cute hexie blocks, Teen.

I dont know, honestly. The document I had on my computer somehow corrupted for the latest post and I am now missing a nonessential quest or two. Also, I havent had as much time on my hands lately, but I will try to get it out by Wednesday.

Anael 07-27-2021 09:27 AM

Oh my!!!!!!! No words............it's beyond beautiful!!
And all hand pieced!! WOW!!

What's next on the list?

Blue Bell 07-28-2021 06:13 PM

Your quilt is beautiful, Teen.

Teen 08-01-2021 03:57 PM

Thank you, both!! It will be heading to quilter this week.

Anael….not sure what I’m doing for next project. I just got back 3 quilts from quilter so I need to get those bound and labels made for them. I really need to tackle Kingwell GW…It’s been kitted and ready for over a year but I keep grabbing other projects off that project stack to do. I have 20 blocks to go on Harriet’s Journey. I’m only making 60 of the 100 blocks. And, I have got zero ideas for Christmas gifts this year. Such a dilemma…lol..! I’ll see where the inspiration takes me.

Anael 08-01-2021 10:03 PM

Don't tackle GW if it's a 'need to'. You'll know when you really want to make that one.
Good luck in finding inspiration for Christmas gifts!! I'm so glad we don't do Christmas gifts!!

Anael 11-02-2021 10:43 PM

This is weird. I got a notification of new posts but no new posts after August first? Strange!! Where did they go?

Teen 11-03-2021 11:58 AM

Very weird….I read some recent posts from WMUTeach, I think, so I know they were here within the past few days..

Anael 11-03-2021 12:05 PM

I got a notification that WMUTeach had posted her LTG was finally finished but I don't see the post. Do you?

Teen 11-03-2021 12:10 PM

Nope…super weird..
