I lost electricity for 1 1/2hr with only 4 seams to go.. So, I mopped the kitchen and dining room....then clean a toilet....then..ugh! Finally, it came back on.. I kept the green corners....I really like it. (My DH can be seen just like this in every quilt picture. It's his signature...:D)
|
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I Love it!!!! It's wonderful!! Well done Teen!
|
Great job Teen. It looks wonderful! I can't wait to see it with the border.
|
Thank you, ladies!
|
Teen, Your quilt is awesome. Love it to pieces. I especially like the blocks with the flowers.

Here's the first Tulip block. Some points are way off, I'm really embarrased to show you the block but I'm not going to make it again. Next block should be better. I used to be good at y seams, not anymore :(
So here's the block. |
Pretty block Anael. I can't seem to find where it's off. So, maybe your just a bit too close. I love the pink gingham your using.

Love your quilt, Teen.
Your sense of humor is the greatest, Anael! |
Anael, It looks perfect to me. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Took the design wall inside again.....imagine a bird on a branch.....s*itting on my block.....then I would really have to make it again which I don't want to....... From where I was sitting I couldn't even recognize the blocks I made :D :D |
hahahahaha, Anael!!! What a great idea....I have several quilts I should just hang out side. Lol... Your tulip block looks great.
Thank you, OK & Bluebell!! |
Quiet here!! I ran out of stabilizer for my border so it's been delayed a few days until I receive it. I'm getting anxious to finish this. I saw another Kingwell pattern I really like called Meadow. Jen is not the designer (I think it's her DIL) but it's published under Kingwell Designs. HST's plus lots of appliqué. I may just get that pattern... Here I go, again. Lol..
|
I've seen that one, it's really all about colour! I like it too. No, I won't get it - yet :D :D
Yesterday I biked 50 miles and today the grands will be here for lunch. |
Teen, just checked out the pattern. It looks like it would be awful fun pulling fabrics for this quilt. And, the flower border around has wonderful detail. I like it.
|
Not a Jen Kingwell. This is what I've been working on. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...17fda02c3a.jpg
All the pink and orange is leftover from my Giant Scrappy Swoon. I spent today cutting out lots of white for this and my Scrappy Hunter Star. Now I can just sew sew sew. If it ever stops raining here. I should have enough cut to finish both projects. |
Oh Judith...that's wonderful. So glad your sharing your projects. And, love this colorway. Pink and orange with bright white looks awesome together. Hunters Dtar is on my bucket list, too. Are you using the templates for HS?
I've been working a swap project waiting impatiently for the stuff I need to finish GTSB.. Since my dots are out, that's what I'm using for project. |
No Teen, I'm doing the method of 1/2 square triangles for the HS. I'm tying to use up leftover Hunter Star Swap Blocks.
|
All my supplies have arrived to finish GTSB but now I have to have my carpet re-stretched...It involves 3 rooms, one of which is my sewing nook. The other rooms are basically packed up already so easy but not my sewing stuff.. Ugh! So, tomorrow, I have to prepare for them to empty that room to re-stretch carpet. They come on Thursday..... GTSB will be a few days away....dang... I wish I had a staff of employees to delegate this to. DH won't let me boss him around..such a poor sport..:D
|
Hahahaha you should have started that bossing around way earlier. Now it's too late.......:D :D
It's exciting to know all the supplies are there to finish GTSB, you'll finish it, only a few days later. |

I finally made another GTSB block. One of the flowers is turned the wrong way but that happens in nature too LOL

Next GTSB block, appliqué block 2. All flowers point in the right direction :D :D
The background is a blue/grey mottled fabric. |
I love the fabric in these blocks, Anael! They look great and I didn't even see the boo boo in the block until you pointed it out. Your applique is so rockin, girl.. Perfect.
I'm just waiting for the carpet guys to get here. Even though my house is mostly packed, it was still a chore to clear rooms for them to re-stretch carpet. I packed books yesterday...many book including my extensive psych book library so my back is hurting today. DEfinitely over-extended myself. |
Thank you !! I appliqued the flowers in the Baby Carriage block too :) :) Didn't feel like curved piecing, too hot hahaha!
LOL Psych is heavy stuff.......I know all to well :) Hopefully everything will go as planned Teen, can't wait to see the finished GBST top!! |
Since I couldn't work on GTSB, I worked on a wall hanging for the board swap. It's turning out cute ....using polka dots since they were already out. I posted a pic on the July - Oct thread of the WIP, first page. Had to put him away too with this stupid carpet thing.
|
Will go there now, wait............
|
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that's cute!!!!!!!!!!
|
Thank you! He's been on my bucket list. Just loved him for some reason.
|
Anael, I love this block. It is adorable. Teen, your's is adorable, too.
|
In the GW Facebook group I see several quilts with a pieced border. I think I will do that too. So back to the sewing machine with the Gypsy Wife it will be!
|
Thank you Blue Bell!
|
Thank you, Blue Bell!
Anael....what is the pieced border you are planning? I prefer borders on my quilts. I think I've only made 3 quilts without a border so I'd probably do a border on GW, too. Carpet re-stretched.. Putting rooms back in order and packing some sewing stuff while I'm at it. Thank goodness that is over and praying this fixes it. I'm just grateful most of my stuff is already packed. |
I'm doing just as Jen suggests in the GW book: 4" finished blocks and fabric strips.
|
Anael, your last two blocks are sew pretty. I actually like the turned tulip. It does seem more "real" that way. And, more great colors. Your border for the Gypsy Wife Sounds fun. I can't wait to see it finished.
Teen, sorry to hear about your carpet problems. But, if it works out, it sure will be a money saving problem. Although, the work to move everything is sure not fun by any means. But, you will be another step closer to finishing packing up for your final move. When will that take place? It is the worst living half in one place, half in another. I miss seeing your progress as well. Glad your supplies have finally been delivered. It stinks to run out in the middle of things. Sometimes, that's how UFO's are "born". Of course, I know that is not how you run your show. I am still working on depression blocks. I have finished row 1 and 2 and am now working on 3 and 4. For all the orange and pink scraps I though I had, I am worried about running out. Oh well, I have lots of pink and orange in the scrap bin if need be. I will just keep piecing until I run out. And, then I will do whatever I need to do to finish. |
Thank you Judith!
Tell me, what are depression blocks? Not the ones you get depressed because nothing fits? Orange and pink together, sounds good to me! I love contrast and colours I once was told won't go together.....haha! |
Here's a photo of the first two rows.
http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/..._091231973.jpg It's called the "Depression Block" on quilterscache.com. I think it's called that because it can be a great scrappy block also using anything on hand. You just have to be very careful of the light and dark placement. Here's a photo of a scrappy Depression Block. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/..._125822688.jpg I fell in love with an orange and pink quilt in a magazine I saw once. I just love the two colors together. So, I had all these extra scrap triangles, so, I just went for it. |
