Thanks Judith, I didn't know. The careful placement of the lights and darks makes totally sense. The pattern will be totally off if done wrong! I love the orange and pink together!

Teen 07-19-2018 09:40 AM

Judith...your quilt is looking wonderful. Love the colorway... Pattern is really cool. That's a lot of HST... Easy to whip out depending on method you master.

Yes, we are close to being ready to move. We have a few things to do before we go on market. Carpet issue was one of them. Need to repaint 2 rooms, which I'm working on now. Next week, landscaper coming to trim up property (we have an acre....all landscaped so a lot of trimming). Getting ready to take another load to Idaho. We hope to be moved in a couple of months. Had some delays, which is another story..

Anael 07-19-2018 10:30 AM

Oh dear, I thought you were already moving!! Lots of work to do before you can leave. Good luck with that. If I were closer I would come over and help........though I doubt I would be a great help :D :D But I could take photos of you working hard!

oksewglad 07-19-2018 01:05 PM

Lovely window dressing, Judith!

You are too funny, but also a great picture taker!

Teen 07-19-2018 04:25 PM

Hahahaha....thanks, Anael! I'll put the tea out for you so you can relax while watching. I'd prefer you avoid the macro-lens, tho. Eeek! Barf!!

Anael 07-19-2018 09:22 PM

When I'll have tea while watching I"ll barf with you. Coffee would be much better hahaha.
I won't take the macro, only zoom, ok?

The next GTSB block, the hexagon panel. One I wasn't looking forward to but it wasn't as hard as I thought. I didn't sew the hexies on thin fabric, I just sewed them together. Do you see the cat? :D

Judith1005 07-20-2018 04:55 AM

Great job Anael. I love your Hexi's. And, the little fussy cut cat is darling. Oh, some cute little ducks also. Nice surprise's in this section. You are moving right along on this top also.

Anael 07-20-2018 05:03 AM

Thanks Judith! Just a few more smaller blocks and section 1 is done. I still have a lot to do on this one - and on the Long Time Gone too.
Tomorrow I won't be home, I'm going biking with my brother. Looking forward to that, we always have a great time together.

Judith1005 07-20-2018 08:40 AM

Oh ladies, look at what I received in the mail today! I got my farm blocks back. I have surrounded them around a panel I purchased. Because every farm needs a barn. This is going to make up into the cutest quilt. My granddaughters are going to love it.

Yep, another project to start on. I am so bad at wandering from one project to the next. :o

Anael 07-20-2018 08:53 AM

Those blocks are really cute!!!!
:D I'm as bad as you are :D But you knew that already.....hahahaha

Teen 07-20-2018 09:05 AM

Fantastic hexi's, Anael. Love it! Section 1 is the biggest so it's easy street now. Lol..

Judith...seriously adorable farm quilt. They did a beautiful job on the blocks and you are so creative using a main panel. I'm still sitting on my summertime blocks and you've just inspired me with the panel design. I hope it's ok if I steal idea...? This farm quilt will awesome.

I finished the wall hanging for swap and posted pictures on swap thread and picture thread. He turned out so cute.

Judith1005 07-20-2018 09:25 AM

Sure Teen! Steal away. In fact, I saw someone on here years ago used a Summer panel surrounded by her swap blocks. It came out really cute. Here you go, I found it: https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...t117712-4.html Comment 156 by purplesharon

Anael 07-20-2018 09:34 AM

Noooooooooooooooooooo what a huge pic............no idea what happened.

Teen 07-20-2018 09:54 AM

Thank you, Judith, for the sweet comment on WH.....and thanks for the link to panel quilt. I just really love that idea. So creative...

Anael.... Lol....it is huge...hahahahahaha.... Regardless, I absolutely love the fabrics used in orange peel blocks. I get to see close up your fantastic appliquing, too!! You got this down. Points are spot on!!!

Anael 07-20-2018 10:05 AM

You weren't supposed to be able to look so closely :D :D :D Thanks for the compliments!! I'm slowly getting better at appliqué.

Teen 07-20-2018 10:09 AM

Like everything you do, Camera lady, you do well. You sew beautifully. And, I wish I did as well as you in color ways. As I've said before, you have an eye for that. Judith does, too. I love what you guys come up with.

Anael 07-20-2018 10:13 AM

Awwww thanks so much!!!
I love what you're doing too, I thought the same about your colour choices :)

Anael 07-20-2018 10:29 AM

Two more garden path blocks (or the substitute) and one double drunkards path and section 1 is finished. Won't happen today nor tomorrow! I'm working on the DDP now but I doubt I will finish that one today.

Camera lady hahahahaaaaa

Judith1005 07-20-2018 10:51 AM

Thank you Teen.

Anael, your orange peels are beautiful. Someday, I will make a whole scrappy quilt in this block. Or, maybe a table topper. I love this block. And, your applique is beautiful.

I hope you enjoy your bike ride with your brother tomorrow. It sounds like it will be a wonderful outing. I look forward to your pictures. Although, the bug picture are fabulous, they freak me out. I have this thing against bugs. Maybe because Florida has sooo many of them. But, I love the picture you take that makes it look like the wings are still in motion. Almost anyway. lol

Is photography a hobby? Or is it something you do for a living? Your very good.

Anael 07-20-2018 11:20 AM

Thank you so much Judith!!
Rides with my brother are always fun, we always have a great time, even when it's raining :)

Photography is a hobby, I don't think I will ever be good enough to do it for a living. Besides, I don't need the stress!
Now that I have a macro lens I can take photos like the bug one. I always wanted to do that and now I can!
The black/red bug is actually a butterfly ;)

Teen 07-20-2018 11:43 AM

Have fun with your brother, Anael. Before my hip went bad, I use to roller blade with my brother on the San Diego beach Boardwalk. He's about 10 years older than me and can skate circles around me. Always a fun outing with him, too. Brothers are fun until the practical jokes come...he's a jokester...as is my other brother who is 12 years older than me. I always get even. Lol..

Anael 07-20-2018 12:06 PM

I'm almost 11 years older ;) I might have told before we never did anything together till about 3 years ago. Then we started cycling together. It was fun and we never stopped. Now we cycle together about 8 times a year. He's no jokester, but has a great sense of humor....:D

Battle Axe 07-20-2018 12:10 PM

Soooo sew cute. Thanks for sharing.

Teen 07-20-2018 06:44 PM

I didn't sew today. We are working through our very short list of home repairs/upgrades....decided to repaint the guest bathroom, which was wallpapered. Ugh!! Scraping wallpaper off is not fun. Only one wall to go so I should finish this up tomorrow. Fingers crossed... My sewing machine says.."Hey, you!! Get over here..."

Anael 07-20-2018 08:28 PM

I don't have wallpaper, not anymore for the same reason. It's a royal pain to scrape it off!!

It's 6.20 am here now, I just woke up, waiting for my first coffee to be ready. I need time in the morning to start up. Train is leaving at 08.08.

Teen 07-20-2018 08:38 PM

Down that coffee and perk up, girl!! Safe journey!! Have fun...

Anael 07-20-2018 08:49 PM

Thanks! Second coffee going down right now :D :D :D Almost ready to shower, get dressed and get going! CU later.

Teen 07-21-2018 05:32 PM

I worked my hind end off and got all the wallpaper stripped. Did some other prep work so painting this room next week. Then, I sat and prepped more applique pieces for GTSB. I hope to to sew a couple of sides of borders tomorrow. Gotta do the stems and leaves still....so, I'm happy I'm doing a little production on this thing. I'm really looking forward to quilting this.

Texas_Sue 07-25-2018 04:31 AM

I was at a retreat last weekend and fell in love with "Long Time Gone" by Jen Kingwell. I have ordered the kit which includes the pattern book and would love to be able to ask questions and watch everyone's progress if that is possible. I have no idea how long it will take to receive my package from Australia, but I hope to see it soon. I will probably need all the help I can get with it so please bear with me. Thanks in advance - Susan E

Anael 07-25-2018 05:13 AM

Hi Susan, welcome!
Some of us are working on Long Time Gone (like me :) ) and of course we'll try and help you.
Great to have another Jen fan :)

Texas_Sue 07-25-2018 06:57 AM

Thanks for the welcome. I've been looking at the pics and they are very beautiful. I can't wait to get started! Looking forward to the challenge. Do most of you hand piece or machine? I'm not sure which way I'll choose to go, but I may even do both.

Susan E

Anael 07-25-2018 07:24 AM

I always machine piece, can't imagine to hand piece a whole quilt ;) The only block I ever hand pieced a few seams was one of the Dear Jane blocks.

Teen 07-25-2018 07:34 AM

Welcome, Susan.... LTG is a cool quilt. I was just surfing the web the other night looking at all the color variations for this pattern. What is the colorway of your kit? And, I machine piece, too. Not a fan of hand work but so admire others work. I'm just finishing up Green Tea pattern then I'll choose the next Jen pattern to work on.

Texas_Sue 07-25-2018 07:47 AM

I'm not truly sure of the colorway, but I bought the large kit that has a lot of colors in it so it will be super scrappy and the sections are going to be sectioned off with the light grey. I just think it is so stunning and has so many of the antique looking blocks in each section. I just love the traditional blocks! You have some gorgeous blocks here and it really wants to make me get started soon. BTW thanks for the welcome! Susan E

Teen 07-25-2018 08:18 AM

Sounds beautiful, Susan. Hope you receive your kit soon and can start. Looking forward to seeing your progress and cheering you on!!

Judith1005 07-25-2018 05:45 PM

I am making great head way on Mr. Orange and Ms. Pink. I have the first 4 rows finished and together. And, I have the next 14 blocks for rows 5 and 6 all ready to piece together. And, I have rows 7 and 8 ready to chain piece. I am moving right along. We have been having ] many storms. So, I am working around bad weather. Having the rows set up like this keeps me moving in case I can't sew, I can trim and iron. So happy to be organized with this quilt. I can't wait to finish it. I think it's going to be my new favorite. I hope to have this one ready to send with my Scrappy Giant Swoon to the quilter next week. I am going to have to piece like a mad person though.
