Finally have something to share. After wrapping up the christmas quilt projects (two still need to be quilted, that will wait until next winter), I got back to work on the interupted stuff.

I'm still working away at the "Dear Jen" quilt, but got the "Boho Heart" finished.

I'm not a fan of purple so this quilt does not "speak" to me. But that is fine as it's going for a giveaway at work that will be drawn right before Valentine's Day.

I absolutely love your Boho Heart!!!!! Too bad I'm not your co-worker :)

Mkotch 01-19-2022 02:13 AM

Macybaby, I love the pops of gold in your Boho Heart. The background you used is perfect, too!

Awesome Boho heart, Macybaby! What lucky coworkers. I hope the person who wins appreciates the work that goes into that one. Be prepared for other coworkers to ask you to make them one. I once took a cake decorating class and took the projects into the breakroom at work the next day. I felt like I could have opened a bakery with the requests. Be sure anyone who asks knows what they are asking.

What information do you need? Everything you need to know is in the booklet.

Here is the start of Boho Heart.

Anael, very pretty colors you are using. I love this pattern.

Thanks Judith! I can't believe I started Boho that long ago!!!! Didn't add much blocks to it. Life got in the way big time :(

Life does tend to do that sometimes. I haven't done much quilting the last year. Motivation has been a real struggle. But, I am working on finding it. I love your Boho Heart colors. I love the pattern. But, it is not one i will start anytime soon. I have way to many to finish before I can even think about starting something else. But, I think I will start a list of quilts I would like to do in the future. I need to bring my quilting down to start a quilt, finish said quilt. I will get more accomplished that way. And, it wont be so overwhelming.

Anael 12-27-2022 11:07 AM

Reported both posts from Ligabet.

I haven't done any quilting this year. I made a few blocks but that's about it. I did a lot of crocheting though. Does that count too?

Judith1005 12-27-2022 03:14 PM

Yes Anael, crocheting does count. At least your doing something. I've made a ton of tiny doll clothes this year. And, they were fun. I just need something different. So, back to quilting for a bit. I sitll have like 4 or 5 quitls to bind that were quilted much earlier in the year. (Not by me, lol, by a professional quilter in the area.)

I need to finish projects, that's why I'm crotheting. And I wasn't able to sew, that was another problem ;)
When I finish the current project I still have 2 to go, then I can start with finishing quilt projects LOL. Don't ask how many because I have no idea. At least 2 Kingwell quilts in the making, that's for sure.

I'd forgotten we had a thread just for Jen Kingwell. I have been working on this Smitten quilt top using EPP for over a year now. All the blocks are done and I'm starting this week to put them together. They're still on the design wall at this point. Enjoy!

I did piece it by hand, but I did EPP on it to make the Y seams easier. I didn't want to do hand piecing and love EPP so I just figured out which papers I needed.

Anael 02-15-2023 07:20 AM

WOW !!!! I never ever pieced anything by hand!! Well done !!

cashs_mom 02-15-2023 10:38 AM

Thank you! Thank you! This is the second top I've pieced by hand. The first one was a scrappy hexie that I worked on for a couple years. It's up next to be quilted. Not sure when that will actually happen though. lol

Anael 02-15-2023 10:55 AM

Are you going to do the quilting yourself? By hand?

I will quilt it myself, but not by hand. I've never done hand quilting and I'm not sure I want to start now ;)

Anael 02-16-2023 01:11 AM

I did it once, it was a very special quilt. I don't think I'll ever do it again. It was very rewarding but it takes too much time which I think I don't have ;)

cashs_mom 02-16-2023 11:17 AM

That's my feeling Anael. EPP and the occasional embroidery project take up all my hand work time. I'm getting ready to quilt a hexie quilt by machine which some people consider sacrilege. I consider it the only way I'll get the quilt done lol

Anael 02-16-2023 12:48 PM

I really don't care what other people think about machine quilting and machine piecing. I once was told by 2 women (who don't quilt themselves) that what I was doing wasn't piecing or quilting because it should all be done by hand because that's the way it used to be done. So I asked them if they still were travelling on horseback because that's the way people travelled back in the days. They didn't answer that one LOL

Good one Anael! We don't still have outhouses and cook on wood stoves, why would we still need to sew everything by hand? I usually chalk that up to jealousy. I've encountered that even in my quilting group

My first quilting instructor used to remind us that the sewing machine was invented in 1846. She said, "if you had to chop wood, wash clothes over a fire outside, and do all the other things women did manually in those days, of course you'd use your sewing machine if you could."
