Beautiful blocks, GramE, Carol and Windblown. I really like the same-ish look that GramE has got, but I'm afraid I would shoot myself from boredom if I did it that way. It's already tedious to make so many of each little unit, and the scrappy weirdness is the only way I can get through it. GramE, I know you have more dicipline than I!

Rob, your fabric collection is looking good. Hope you can jump in and get started soon.

Lisa, that word DECISIONS is the problem I have with scrappy. I’m ADHD enough that I have trouble making decisions that don’t matter. Now if the house was on fire I could easily decide to get out. But deciding if this blue goes with this white or ecru drives me insane. That’s why i’m Sticking to the two rule. 2 of each and do each clue all the way with the same colors. I am considering a log cabin scrap after seeing yours. I have so many scraps they are over running me. Either a log cabin or i’m Shipping them to someone who will use them!

And Theresa, i’m glad you are going scrappy. The end justifies the means in this case. She gives clear clues and the end product looks wonderful. Look at the video on her blog today of the scrappy quilt show. Don’t give up, keep at it.

SewBiz, my husband would not call it discipline, he would call it crazy! I can only sit at the machine about an hour at a time so not long enough to get bored. Sewing is what I do to escape the boredom! ;)

I finally got around to some sewing today and was able to complete Clue #2 using the flippy corners method and cutting/cross-cutting with my Accuquilt strip dies. They went super fast with no trimming needed. Looking forward to the next clue.

My decision to not go scrappy was strictly because the last times I went scrappy I ended up with a ton of fat quarters of the wrong colors. I have to shop on line because we are fairly remote. 1:30 mins to a LQS
I decided this time to go single fabrics to save money. We will see how it goes.

Carol, believe it or not this is my first time with flying geese, but 3, maybe 4 quilting block swaps has given me a lot more confidence to just jump in and make a couple then measure & assess. I am amazed at my seams, my cuts, my understanding of instructions , getting pieces nested properly. I by far am not a great seamstresses but boy am I better, way better than two years ago with the machine. Machines & I aren’t naturally an instant match. I’m a hand sewing old lady. I love hand sewing. But I love the mysteries too. The one small bite size clue at a time. I can now add flying geese to my resumè. I did learn already to make sure I put the line of the ruler up onto the fabrics not on the table. I hardly had to trim any flying geese & I did not take one apart. (Something tells me I shouldn’t have said that out loud). In the new year I have four grands graduating so i’m Hoping all these new skills will serve me well.
