I didn't git the 11 PC blocks I wanted ta. First I've been substituting a few blocks 'cause they don't go w/my fabric or just 'cause I don't like 'em. Well I have Carol Doke's Mariner's Compass PP book. I reduced one of the pattern's & made it for a substitute. Well when I got it done it was 9 1/2 instead of 8 1/2. :( So I made a potholder! Here it is & the 2 blocks that I did.

Here's the back.

And Cowboy's Star is wonky!
I've got a plan ta fix it.:)

QuilterMomma--very cute lace bags!

Dublb--I still like your fabrics and blocks. :) Especially the potholder block...I will have to see if I can find that pattern in a 8 1/2" block and maybe use it for one of my substitutes.

Today I got binding cut for dd's quilt and my quilt top ironed so I can add the border tomorrow...maybe even get to sandwich and start quilting. It was chilly here today so hard to get motivated. It didn't help that errands in town took longer than expected.

dubl--your cowboy star isn't "wonky". the inside star looks nice. can you just square it up?

this is the lst time, i have had a chance to catch up on the board in a couple months. looking for inspiration to get something done. thx for sharing your projects.

Congrats on the finishes dublb and QM.

I am like brushandthimble....I have not completed a single thing in a LONG time.
Guess I got to expect that...the garden/yard work takes precedence now.

Big Welcome to Carrie.

I love the finished quilts that have been posted the last few days! I'm only seeing them now because I was on holiday without internet access (oh, gasp, the horror!).

The good thing about being away for a week: I finally (after a year and a half!!) finished all 50 blocks I needed to piece for my Irish Chain quilt. So this month I am going to focus on piecing the blocks together as well as the border. The goal for June is to finish the top.

The only problem I've got now is that some of the fabric - precut blocks that go in between the pieced ones as well as the border sashing - has been stored for so long that in some of them are pretty heavy creases. I hope I can get them out by ironing the fabric, because I am afraid that if I have to wash them to get the creases out, the pieces will fray so much they'll end up to small. (Lesson learned: do NOT leave a pieces of a top lying around for so long again.)

Hey JM, best press spayed heavily may help that or what I do, same situation, is put warm water in a spray bottle and spray just that seem and PRESS not iron only PRESS This will help those come out without stretching the fabric. It will take some time, but helps get r done.

The last time I did this I fixed it buy spraying the fabric w/so much starch that it was dripping. Then I let it sit til it was damp. Then I pressed. A few timed I let it sit too long & had ta spray warm water on it before I pressed it. I hope this helps.

Well, better late than never! I'd been meaning to get this little quilt bound for a long time and finally got it done. This is a "me" quilt. Most of my quilts are giveaways, so I thought I'd try to make a few for myself this year. I love the fabric in this one, although the purples are darker than the picture shows. There are 3 pictures.

Thanks! I'll definitely try this if I can't get them out by simply pressing them after spraying with just water.
