I really like this with the green. You may wish to add a few white triangles in your side sashings, to complete the diamonds around your CW blocks.

Yes, almond triangles in the border would complete the look, but the border isn't wide enough and then I'd need to add binding. Its just a scrap quilt from my leftovers and I plan to birth it for an everyday lap quilt. Hmmm wonder if those four triangles were smaller if it would be noticeable... and I have no idea how I'd add them now.

sewbizgirl....I love how the hourglass blocks look so good with all the other blocks. They makes the quilt look amazing!

They do make a fun optical illusion. I learned about using them as alternate blocks from Bonnie Hunter.

I just looked up "alternate blocks" and found this good article with lots of alternate block suggestions:

Thanks Sewbizgirl. That is a wonderful article.

We are getting a little wind from H. Harvey even up here in Northern Indiana.

Yes, its a good article. Thanks for sharing. Now can you show me a tutorial of any sort that would tell/show me how to add those little almond triangles to the sides of my quilt? Now that you mentioned it, I can't seem to get it off my mind. Haven't sandwiched it yet, so now would be the time for any changes! (All I can think of is to make a template for the finished size triangles, mark around it on the top, mark around it on the almond, then add seam allowances to both the triangles and the border, and sew on the marked lines.) Does this sound right?

Happy Birthday Dotty, how do you celebrate across the pond? A pint or a quart?
