I used half of the angel food cake with a jiffy white cake mix (single layer). I have half of the angel cake mix left to do another flavor with. I bake mine in a little glass dish and use it for strawberry shortcake. Handy, fresh, and perfect for us since we are just two now!

I just tried this for the first time this weekend and it was wonderful!!- made them ahead of time ( cuz no microwave where we were camping) and used a lemon cake mix then put them in a zip lock bag- they kept good for 3 days. We also put fresh pineapple on top and then of course cool whip! Nice light dessert. Can't wait to try another flavor.

I spray a waffle iron and cook the mix in that. It comes out nice light and crispy
