Default 3 quart Instapot

I just posted an Instapot question, but now I have a new one. Is the three quart one useful? The 6 I have seems to big for one person, except for things like soup. Would it be beneficial to purchase the three quart size?

I have the 3 qt size and it works just fine for the 2 of us I have to cook for.

My DDL has the 3 quart and the 6 quart for their family of 4. She used the 3 qt. for barbeque meatballs on Thanksgiving. I'm sure for other get togethers, also. Might be just right for you and still nice to have the larger option when you make soup, etc.

I have a 3 quart and 2 six quarts. We are two people. I mostly use the 3 quart for rice and yogurt. I probably don’t need three but sometimes I do,use two or three on the same night.

I wondered the same thing. I have limited storage so that was the reason I picked the 3 qt. I’ve had it for a few weeks and am glad I got that size for 2of us.

The biggest complaint I have is the recipes are all for the larger size but don’t specify what the “yield” is to help me reduce for the 3quart. Good example - pinto beans!

I have the 3 qt. and it's fine for two people. Facebook has an Instant Pot group that has recipes. They are starting to mark ones for the mini so we don't have to convert from the 6 qt. size.

Having blown up a old regular style pressure cooker, I would hesitate to use a 3 quart for beans. It was 60 years ago, but, believe me, the image of the split pea soup sticking to my mother's freshly painted kitchen has remained with me. If I get a 3 quart, I will keep the 6 quart at least until I move to a smaller home. By that time, I will know which one to keep.

Please check out my post on 2-19 about the InstantPot fire dangers in the General section!! Several owners have reported fires or near fires from them and the company is urging owners to stop using them until they can investigate and recall.

As I noted in your other post this is a totally different product. Same company different product. I have three Instant Pots including the 3 qt. They are wonderful products. They are nothing like "grandmas old one that exploded". Not for everyone of course but nothing to fear. They shut themselves off if there is a problem. Facebook page has over a half a million users. It is an Amazon best seller.

I would think that you could just half the recipe for the 3 quart, use the same time. I have the 6, and have seen this question posted and this has been the answer.
