My mom taught me to make apple (and pear butter) as a young mother.
Mom's Apple Butter Recipe
Apples cored but not peeled and pureed
1 cup sugar to 1 cup of fruit
Cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves season to your taste
Cook until the bubbles rise to the surface and pop. Then can by which ever way you can your jams.
(I don't do the water bath method for jam. I place my jars in the oven on a cookie sheet at 250, and I place clean new lids in a pan of water and set to med. low when the jam is ready the jars and lids are hot fill them with jam tighten rings and let cool in draft free area.)

When you make it - the bubbles need to really plop when they pop it's a long slow sound. It's not the first few bubbles :-) Let me know how you like it if you make it.Originally Posted by craftybear
