When I had my restaurant in Florida, we made our own desserts. (And everything else, including real mashed potatoes, lumps and all)

One day I was preparing apple pies and cherry pies. When I was finished, I had enough filling left for half of a cherry pie and half of an apple pie. Not being someone that wastes anything (including fabric crumbs) I thought I would combine the two fruits into a pie. Making a long story short, it was so popular, I had to begin making it one of my regular pies. It gives it a very different taste.

Thank you for the idea! I will try this as some in my family think a plain cherry pie is a bit too much cherry :D:D:D

Cherries can be expensive here in Aus. so often we use apple to "stretch" it a bit. It's a great tip and it appeals to lots of people who don't normally go for cherry pie.

I have done this before-our family now requests "Chapel Pie".
