When we got married in '75 we bought the house next door to his grandma. This was the first family recipe she shared with me. (probably the 2nd day we lived there!) It was trying at times, but she did give me a lot of "family" guidance. My kids were very fortunate to live next door to their great-grandmother.

You can freeze them in packets also. Lasts, almost, forever in the freezer.

And if you're Hungarian, you put a bit of sweet paprika and sour cream into it as well! 'Uborka salata'!

Any way you prepare it, it tastes like summer to me!

I peal slice and quarter my cukes and onions then soke in powered milk for at least 30 mins then rinse add a tbls mayo and about 1/4 cup sour cream s and p.

The milk takes the hot out of the onions and burp out of the cukes.

This is how you make sweet onions.

Tranum, Yes, leave a bit of juice in the baggie. I lay mine flat on the freezer shelf, that way they stack easy.
