I love honey crisp. I’ve foundgood luck in keeping it firm and crisp!

My absolute favorite apple for eating is Envy. A few years ago I would have said Cameo, but I can no longer find them in stores.

My first favorite is the Macintosh from my youth - bit today’s Macintosh is a close second. Followed by HoneyCrisp. We have an apple orchard nearby and we can go pick and eat many different varieties. I use the mix to make applesauce. I used to love Red Delicious from my youth but the ones I can get now are usually meally.

My DH and I love a really old, ugly apple - Grimes Golden - but they are getting really hard to find. Stores won't carry them because they look terrible - green apple with spots on it - so nobody plants them anymore and the old ones are dying. Found a source on the internet last fall but the lady on the phone said that they did not have any apples last year as they had a very bad hail storm that spring that took off all of their blooms - so I will try them again this fall.

I tried the new cosmic crisp and found them to be very good, but expensive. My favorite apple otherwise is the honeycrisp, followed by Pink Lady. Apples are all about texture to me, i cannot stomach a mealy apple. Anything that has lost its crispness gets stewed to put on biscuits or turned into pie or apple butter.
