I have not tried to use dandelions in anything else but Dandelion Greens Salad. However, I was just out in my yard, mowing these flowers down the other day, and I thought it was such a shame not to use them. I keep running into recipes online for various uses of Dandelions, such as wine, medicinal uses of the root, vinegars, etc. Does anyone have experience using Dandelions?

I have made dandelion wine. It can pack a punch if you are not careful!

A friend of mine's father made all sorts of home brews. That was in Alaska and let me tell you -- birch sap champagne was outstanding! Liked the Dandelion wine too, but some people have allergies that aren't pollen related so you should always let people know.

All we use dandelions for is our Bearded Dragon, Apollo loves those!

When I had my cancer, my daughter talked me into dandelion tea. I made it and got used to the flavor. But I'm a creature of habit and didn't continue that too long.

Has anybody here tried eating thistle? My grandson turned me on to it when he was a cub scout. Right before it blooms, cut the stalk and peel it. It's hollow inside. It taste like celery, only without the strings. I think it's delicious!

I think I picked up some dandelion tea but haven't tried it. Our local nature amnil store makes most if not all of her products and she was seeping a jar full of dandelion flowers to make some soap or maybe it was cream. A skin doctor buys all of her product to give to his patients with a skin condition. I use her soap for my face only made from tea tree and charcoal plus a lotion to put on the bottoms of my feet made from magnesium and I think tea tree that's suppose to help you sleep. Most nights I sleep like a baby never moving at all. Now that's deep sleep.

I didn't know that...great tip! It makes sense, since artichokes and cardoons are both in the thistle family. My husband will be happy to know that about the common thistle. He is obsessed with trying to get rid of them on our property. I'll have to do some research to see what kind we have and if it is edible.
