    Default Pinto Beans

When we BBQ, we start a crock pot of pinto beans. So many ways, they are different every time. I like to season/flavor the liquid that they will soak up. Last time, I used chicken stock instead of water and really liked them.
Occasionally, DH likes to add cooked chorizo sausage to the beans.
    How do you do beans?

I too have used turkey stock instead of water and added chopped onion, green pepper, sliced sausage along with garlic powder and other spices.

I use beef stock in my pinto beans then add spices (Garlic & Onion powder), cracked peppercorns, paprika and a bit of dried oregano. Fresh jalapeno and a small can of mild green chilies, fresh white onion.

This is a favorite around here...https://kentrollins.com/wprm_print/t...y-kent-rollins

I've been making refried beans the next day after making a pot of pinto beans. Put them, juice and all, in blender/food processor. Then reduce liquid content in frying pan. I will eat some refried beans, alone or on toast, when DH isn't home to cook breakfast.

Sounds good. I always use some kind of stock in my beans.

I made pinto bean soup and it was so good. I browned ham pieces first, then added the rest of ing and chicken broth. I think the broth makes a big difference when cooking.

Last week, we baked a whole ham. Saved the bone to make beans the next day. Absolutely my favorite beans ever. Then refried them. I could not find my potato masher, so I used the immersion blender for the first time.

Also, been adding a bay leaf to the pot.

I love beans. Had a friend who couldn't stand texture of mushy. Everytime I eat beans, think of her. She was such a special friend.

    Eating is more than food.
