BREAD PUDDING WITH LEMON SAUCE 4 Cups hamburger buns – NOT FRESH 1 Cup sugar 2 Cups whole milk ½ stick butter or margarine ¼ Cup raisins or dried cranberries 1 teaspoon Vanilla 2 Beaten eggs Crumble bread in mixing bowl. Add milk, let sit until bread is soft. Add sugar, melted margarine or butter, and eggs. Mix well. Add raisins or cranberries and fold in. DOT NOT STIR Butter a 9” baking glass dish. Pour mixture into the dish and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until top is brown. TIP: Milk MUST be whole milk or canned milk. Otherwise, pudding will fall after removing from the oven. Old biscuits cause pudding to be heavy, loaf bread tends to be too thin. LEMON SAUCE: In a saucepan combine: 1/3 Cup sugar 2 ½ teaspoon cornstarch Add ½ cup water, ¼ cup Real Lemon juice, and one egg yolk. Mix well. Over medium heat, cook and stir until thick. Remove, stir in 1 Tablespoon butter or margarine until melted. Use for topping on bread pudding |
Thanks for the recipe. It reads almost like my Mother's. There is only one thing different. She used leftover biscuits. She also made a brown sugar sauce as a topping. I do have a problem with her recipe. Nothing was measured and everything was made from scratch. Oh No. Am I giving my age away?

Thank you all for the responses. Bread pudding is one of my favorites. I think I could eat a whole pan all by myself. I will definitely try these out.
