Cooking Stuffing/Dressing outside of the turkey???
If you cook your dressing (I guess it's not stuffing in that case) separate from the turkey, how do you keep it moist? I have celiac disease and would rather not cook two turkeys, but I want the dressing for my guests to be as yummy and moist as if it were cooked in the turkey. Any ideas??

i just put it in a casserole dish and bake it till it is a bit crispy on top. I suppose you could cover it with foil and add a bit more broth to keep it soft but i prefer the crispy top and edges.

I usualy stuff my turkey with potatoes, celery, etc., and do the dressing separate. I like mine very moist so I buy canned chicken broth and add to the dressing to desired moistness.

I don't have a problem keeping mine moist (I don't ever put it in the bird). I put broth in it, along with apples and other veggies (leeks) and a variety of other things, all of which help keep it moist. I cover the baking dish with aluminum foil, but I do spray the foil with Pam to keep the dressing from sticking to it.

I've always made cornbread dressing and use broth to keep it moist. But several years ago we started frying our Thanksgiving turkeys, so I don't have any broth from that. I usually boil a chicken to get the broth, then just debone and cut up the chicken and put it in the freezer for another day.

I usually do some in the bird and extra in the crockpot. Same recipe, just a little extra broth added to it. It doesn't take long for it to cook up in the crock.

My DIL is making the stuffing at her home and bringing it to our house on Thanksgiving. No problem as the turkey will cook quicker without stuffing in it's cavity. May in Jersey

Never thought about putting the dressing in a crockpot. Would definately be better than tying up oven space.
