I always use a banana, frozen fruit, and then milk or juice and maybe some yogurt. I dont think there is any way to ruin a smoothie, I just love them and so healthy too :)

Thanks for the info. I will use them. I knoew there was a way to thicken .I like mine for an evening snack, frozen banana, really have to try that one!
Again thanks psychomomquilter. |
I start with o.j. or other juice, any flavor yoghert, MUST have a banana and then add frozen fruit (get the BIG mixed bag from Costco-it's cheaper than the market!) Blend in blender. Can make as think or thin as you want. Yummmm gonna go make one NOW!!!

I put vanilla soy milk frozen fruit and a package of no sugar jello. Just dump the jello in the blender along with other ingredients.

I've used oatmeal powder and almond powder. Anything you can grind in a food processor that you like the taste of.

Frozen chunk bananas/frozen strawberries/frozen fruit of any kind. Also freeze my yogurt

I just use frozen fruit, and it seems thicker!

I agree. It's simply bananas. I got that recipe from Weight
Watchers over 20 or more years ago, and had my teen son ask for them for his parties. He also asked that I not mention that they were supposed to be from Weight Watchers!! A half a blender full of ice cubes. Dump in a ripe peeled banana. Fill to slightly above the ice cubes with milk. Just a trace of vanilla. Chocolate syrup, with a touch of cocoa, or Carob Powder. A few chocolate chips, these will add a touch of crunch. I usually added 3 or 4 maraschino cherries. Some sort of sweetener..either artificial or Stevia or sugar. Blend till creamy, enjoy. This will make 3 very large or 4 small servings. Everything in this is adjustable and can be made to your own taste or your families'. The flavoring can be changed too, but always add the banana. |
I think I have used all of the other suggestions at one time or another. Sometimes I will add 1-1 1/2 TBSP of fat free sugar free instant pudding mix. I makes it nice and creamy. YUMMY!

I cheat and use the yoplait frozen smoothie mix. Quite expensive, but my insides won't allow me to eat as much fruit as I'd like, so the fruit goes bad. These smoothies you just add milk and I usually add more than called for because they are so thick you can almost eat them with a spoon. Ok, now I'm ready for one. Biggest Losers approves of these. The package actually makes two servings.
