All this talk of ham...makes me hungry for the ham bone I froze at Christmas time from our huge ham...I fixed scalloped potatoes, but think that baked sweet potatoes or winter squash would be sooo good with it.
I'm thinking of boiling my ham bone and pairing it with asparagus. Last spring, I made asparagus puree/broth from the tougher pieces and thinking Cream of asparagus soup with ham would be a good combo...what do you folks think? PS I don't like to cook...but if I do like to make soup. |
I usually make scalloped potatoes and green beans with ham.

Baked ham, raisin sauce, Apple sauce, Mac and cheese using cheddar cheese recipe, and other sides of choice. Homemade recipe for Mac and cheese is the best side for ham. No sugar applesauce balances salt of ham, tang of Mac and cheese.

I bake the ham, no glaze because I use it in great northern beans. Mashed potatoes w/ white gravy and corn. Sometimes heat bread rolls to go with it.

Sweet potatoes, green beans and buns. Maybe a pie?

Basically, some variation of a starch of choice and a green veggie. Simple and tasty.

I'm not fond of baked ham too much either. When I make it mac and cheese is a side because that's the part of the dinner I'll be eating. Then maybe green beans or any green veg.

Our go to with ham is baked beans and a nice salad. Maybe spiced apples over the ham.
