Today I am cooking the Corned Pork, could have let it sit another day or two but I'm home today anyway so might as well get it done.

I'm home because I'm expecting a delivery today -- a Turducken in honor of the hubby's Bday (Nov 4). We have never done this before and maybe it is a one and done, maybe it will become tradition. It is fully cooked and arrives frozen so they want someone at home. It is an excessive purchase but even with shipping about the cost of a nice steak house dinner for two...

Prices are going up the closer to Thanksgiving we get! Is $7 more this week than last (when I ordered).

Last night I made Louisiana style red beans in one instant pot and the rice in the other. We lived in South Louisiana for over 40 years before
moving. We came to love the food.right away. There are as many recipes for red beans as there are people who cook them.

Wadda coinkydink! I'm making that too! I've never been to Louisiana, but I do love their food!

he and I agreed on a monthly grocery budget

. My husband keeps a detailed record of what is spent each month but that is for his amusement I guess. He never says anything about what is spent on what but he can tell me to the penny what was spent.

my brother does that! He has spreadsheets and two computer backups. Funny enough he is generous with other people and I have to encourage him to be the same with himself. He can well afford to be.

I do that too. I've learned to shave off a couple hundred a month by working the sales and recording the receipts. Every bit helps these days.

Tonight I'm making homemade Pappardelle with mushrooms. Yesterday was our anniversary, but I ran out of steam, so the DH just made us burgers. I'm returning the gesture and celebrating tonight!

Happy Anniversary, Tropit! I had to ask hubby what that was and he knew. I'm 100% Italian but never heard of it!
He's been busy harvesting basil and making tons of pesto. Also green tomatoes. Some concoction of his.

Gone from 10 am to 8 pm for grandkids activities. Instead of going through a drive through someplace, we came home and fixed a little something. I had 2 fried eggs, 2 link sausage and a piece of toast. DH warmed up a can of soup.

I buy link sausage in bulk and boil them in water until cooked through. Then I freeze them in single layer, break apart and store in a plastic bag. All I need to do is brown them for eating.
