I agree. Too many times I want something to eat but I'm too lazy to prepare it and wind up eating junk food.
My Dad always said 'if you don't know what you want to eat, you're not hungry.'

ROFL! I know speaking for myself, I go through stages here I grow tired of everything. Nothing seems to appeal to me, sometimes for weeks on end.

During this - our first summer being retired I have been buying Sliced Ham,turkey and prepared pulled pork or pulled beef. Store made coleslaw and potato salad and some frozen pre cooked chicken. In winter we will have leftovers

Similar things every day for lunch...deli meat, cheese stick, apple or other fruit. Sometimes a fruit/yogurt parfait which is already made and purchased at the grocery. Once in awhile, husband makes grilled cheese for us for lunch.

It seems we all want "instant" food. I know my family does. All they want to do is to open a cupboard or refrigerator door and there it is. It seems it's too much work to even make a piece of toast nowadays. That's why we hear - there is nothing to eat around here and you have just spent $200 on groceries. Kind of sad actually.

My husband is a foodie, and he does almost all the cooking. When our kids were little he cooked on weekends but now the kitchen is his domain. I couldn't be happier! :D

May I come live with you and your foodie?

I totally agree. My DH is Diabetic, so I have to be diligent on what he eats. So, if we have a big dinner the night before, we have Cereal or Eggs for Breakfast. If a light Dinner, we have a Big Breakfast; pancakes, sausage, juice, ect. His A1C is most of the time, good; 7.0 or so.
To get to the mystery of having something ready to pull out at a last minute, I rely on the deep freeze. Make extra and freeze the extra, or have it for L. or Dinner when you don't have anything or don't care if you cook. Works for us!
