WASH DAY COBBLER

1 (16 oz.) can fruit (sliced peaches)
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
2 tbsp. baking powder
Dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 stick butter
TOPPING:
1/8 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Melt butter in 2-quart (7x11 inch) dish. Cook fruit with juice until boiling. Set aside.
Combine dry ingredients with milk and vanilla. Pour in prepared pan. Add fruit only on top of batter. Don't stir. Sprinkle topping over fruit. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
