That's a great idea about having 3 flaps, thank you! You would still have the pretty shape draped over the sides and foot of the bed, yet there wouldn't be a flap at your head.

For squares the smallest I keep is 2", for strips 1 1/2" wide.
If you want you could save strips 1" wide and squares 1" big to make a crumb quilt. I haven't tried one yet, but they look fun!

I tried the Select loft also and it was better than W&N. However, it wasn't too much thicker so I definitely won't bother trying the request loft Quilter's Dream. I also thick Deluxe seems too heavy....
