I have useda heavy stablizer and it works well. Washes up well. I really do not like the thickness of batting, because some runners I leave on. When there are dishes they do not sit evenly.

You have nice colors, I'd probably use them for applique flowers, maybe the magic vine. If you bought this as a kit, that is really a shame it was so over the top fabric wise.
