The slider is a tremendous help in reducing drag and jerky stitching. I tape the four corners down with painters tape. If you're going to do much fmq it's worth the investment.

I recommend you consider Superior Threads "So Fine!" in a white or cream, whatever matches your background. It's 50 weight, a finer thread, so it will sink in a little more and not be as visible. ...
