I found the pattern at the quilt show in Dallas and in Houston, but Susan Cranshaw is from Wimberly, TX. You might be able to find the pattern on her web site, if she should have one.

I have had the same problem and I was told that if you do the stitching slowly the thread will not break as easy and also make sure your needle is the right size. I usually use a metalic made needle....
