I stopped using the store canned pumpkin years ago. I bake down my pumpkin and then puree it in the blender or food processor. Then I put in canning jars or freezer bags and freeze till I need it.

The first one that I used had the trouble of the blade coming loose. I recently got a deluxe rotary cutter and the blade does not come loose. Try getting a olfa deluxe and see how it works for you.
