When i hand quilt i have never used anything else but cotton thread...most of the ladies i quilt with also use only cotton thread.

I use a small 1" as they hold the sandwich tighter IMHO. i also prefer the straight ones instead of the curved ones...easier to handle and by getting them in the sewing notions instead of quilting...

I use my 45mm rotary cutter that I use to cut fabric. It is always on my sewing table and is always sharp. Takes a little practice, but I think it is the " Best".
