    Thread weight question

What weight thread do you use for FMQ on a domestic machine? I struggled through a mess this afternoon, trying to FMQ. My machine kept skipping stitches, and I tried everything I knew to fix it: ...

Prewash fabrics. Always. With color catchers for dark fabrics. I need to know that nothing's going to run and nothing's going to shrink. As for rules I break, in my book all points and corners do...

    505 spray

Two questions: Do any of you know, with any degree of certainty, whether or not 505 spray can be washed out of a quilt? And second, to what degree are the three layers of the sandwich...

Am I correct in my understanding that you're saying the logs from one block don't align with the logs from the next block? If that's the case, depending on how far off they are I don't think I'd...

    Quilts with issues

This afternoon I watched a video by Karen Brown in which she discusses "overthinking" quilt making decisions. I thought her point was very well taken that none of us makes a perfect quilt. ...

Durability of quilt as you go

I'm exploring various methods of QAYG, as I really want to do more intricate FMQ on my domestic machine and am tired of wrestling a rolled up anaconda through the harp. Apparently some QAYG methods...

CORRECTION: I just realized the red I used was NOT Kauffman Kona. It has a small vine print in it, and isn't a solid. I'm so sorry to have misguided you. If you've never had a Kona fabric bleed,...

Believe it or not, it was a Kona solid. I've always liked this line of fabric, but I guess any fabric can have colors that run. The hand of the fabric was also quite stiff, which surprised me. I...
