I think reversible quilts would be great, just make 2 tops and quilt as 1

Reversible Quilts by Sharon Pederson is a good book. It is a quilt as you go technique to make reversible blocks. I am thinking of making my mom a quilt with the method for Christmas.

She also has a technique to make reversible binding (which I haven't tried yet) in case you want to make two sides that don't coordinate with each other (wouldn't have a common color to bind with).

or fun and done patterns which are quilt as you go.
This is the technique I use. And the front and other front (back) can be totally different in style of block and colors. Have fun!

This is one I made using Sharon Pedersen's method. Honestly the photos are of the same quilt.

Make her the quilt you envisioned and then have her pick out a beautiful backing as a reverse. that way you don't put it double the work and have her be unhappy with the results. Let us know what develops. Good luck!

Mimee4 ~ OR anyone else who can help!!

I just finished a college themed quilt top and decided to do the back in the same colors but different pattern so it could be 'reversible'. Actually, I have to sew on a black boarder all the way around the back, second pic. Now I am stuck on how to put it together. I'm using, kind of a sheet blanket, but not exactly, for the middle. I thought I would stitch in the ditch the top with the middle and then tie it with black thread, more of a stitching in one spot, but hidden as much as possible...not really tied... to the back. For some reason it was really hard to stay in the ditch and I gave that up after ripping out a couple spots on the first try.

I'm new to the process of quilting the quilts. I have made 5 tops but haven't quilted any of them.

I don't want the traditional quilting...I want it to look more like a blanket, less quilted looking.

    Any help would be appreciated.
