Love the way you handled it! I was pretty lucky. My 2 have always gotten along. I have a boy (now 21) and a girl (now 19). With my older siblings, we did not get along until they left for college. After that, we were the best of friends.

Just a side note. I will be bringing my DD to college in Ohio in August. DH & I may drive to Niagara Falls since we will be that close. Any suggestions for our trip would be greatly appreciated!

Mine are 38, 36,35 and 21 - and we still can't let them sit together in church. Problem arose when the baby (21 yr old) was born - we didn't have enough parents to put between all 4 of them. Had to start going at the same time as the grandparents so we could have enough adults to space them apart.

Believe it or not you will miss all of this when they are gone. My oldest son was born mature, my other two not so much. I love them all.

Welllll ..... I have three kids, three stepsons, and working on my 16th grandchild ... sometimes my daughters tell their kids to stop acting like their grandmother .... I will never grow up.

I think they have to go through that in order to ever be able to grow up to be independent adults.. and if they don't have to do it for themselves.. they have to do that for us mothers..

Maybe not everyone feels this way, but if my kids didn't do that I never would have been able to let them go. I wanted to, I didn't have them to keep them... but I just loved them so much that I don't think I could have if they wouldn't have forced it.

Looking back I think God put those horrible years in for all our sake's. I have to say, I love being past those years. Mushy, huh?
No not mushy. I really think the difficulties are there for a reason. It's like nature's way of slowing weaning us from them. And as hard as those spells are to go through they are necessary for the child on their road to independence. Of course if someone told me that when I went through it I may have punched them! :D

I think that's about it - but then grandparents enter their second childhood.

I think the answer is - "it depends" - sometimes they can be SO mature, and other times, the six-week old puppy seems to have more sense.
