I took my first quilting class in Santa Monica California with Mary Ellen Hopkins in the first shop she had opened. It was sometime in the 70's. She was/is a lovely, vibrant and talented person. I was very fortunate to have her as my first introduction into quilting.

I have taken classes/lectures from:
Doreen Speckman
Roxanne McElroy
Deidre McElroy
Mary Mashuto(SP?)
Roberta Horton
Margaret Miller
Libby Leighman
John Flynn
Betty Boynk
Alex Anderson
and many more. I've taken many workshops at Quilt Shows over the years and have been so fortunate to have the honor of meeting these people. Doreen Speckman and Roxanne McElroy have passed away but they were my favorites. Roxanne's daughter teaches and runs the business now.

I've met Eleanor Burns, "Charlie" Charlene, Alex Anderson, John Flynn and Anita Shackleford. I took a class at Eleanor's shop in San Marcos, years ago, when it was still a small place.

I have not met any of the quilters mentioned above but when I began quilting about 10 years ago I took all my quilts to LQS to be quilted. I always asked for Cheryl Malkowski to do the quilting because she had such good original ideas. Well, as time went by she designed a quilt that was printed in quilting magazine, then picked up by Timeless Fabrics, and now she has had 3 books of her designs published, still works for Timeless, and has also now designed a line of fabric for them too. So I think she is on her way to being a famous quilter, and I knew her when (and have quilts quilted by her too).

I met Pearl Louise of the Thimble Cottage in Rapid City SD. She has beautiful fabrics, quilts, patterns and her quilts are in many quilting magazines.
