I started this a year and a half ago and I have no desire to finish it

I'd say finish it by all means, it's a good feeling to know you finished what you set out to do - On the same hand, I'd also say if you really puke to think of dealing with this quilt, then consider giving or selling what you have so far to someone who wants it.
It will definitely find a loving home somewhere.

Carrie, I really don't see the problems you noted about not lining up. Would it help if you had a quilting friend to come over and work with you to make you more comfortable? Maybe you just lost your confidence in your skills. It might be that encouragement from another quilter would help you re-group. It does seem that sometimes, we just have something we can't seem to get excited about working on. Then, we hit another gear and take off, then results are astonishing! Good luck on completing. I know it will be beautiful and you will be so relieved to have it behind you.

The first section lined up very well but after that it seemed like no matter what I did it just wouldn't work. It was literally driving me crazy.

I'm new to this site but I love the support and encouragement you give to each other! In the quilt making process I always feel like the errors accumulate, dimming my enjoyment of the project. If I just keep at it, it seems like a magical thing happens. The quilt may be something I didn't invision but it is something I am proud to give to my loved ones.

Actually I took it apart and was shocked at the poor job I did. There is no way it would have stood up in the wash the first time. I am restructuring it and making it a different quilt out of it.
