I would miss both Fabric Traditions and VIP. I think they are a pretty good quality and the price is right, decent designs, and FT has some really nice metallics.

I love walmart's fabric. It is such a convenient and low priced place to get good fabric. I have gotten some white on white that was mostly fabric starch, but they gave me credit for the money I had spent since the fabric wasn't good quality. They still have the quilt of the month that comes in and their terrific flannel sale in November/December. I hope they never close the fabric department in Brigham City. This department is a huge moneymaker for the store. Usually 3-4 customers shopping and waiting to be cut.

I love all the brands you mentioned. My favorite sight is to see all the fabrics sorted by color, all in a row on their big wall.

My Walmart has lots of frabrics. I buy 100% cotton. My last buy was last week and I bought 113 full bolts for a $1.00 a yard. Yes, I said one dollar. I'm afraid to go back. I always lose my mind. Dottie

Sorry. Honestly, I usually don't look at the brand. Sort of like I can't remember an author's name. If I like it, it is good enough for me. I miss the eyelet lace fabrics and trims they used to have.

I buy all my fabric from Wal Mart. I don't care what the brand is. If it feels good and I like it I buy it.

While I shopped at Wal Mart today, I just had to get my fix & wandered through the fabric dept. Oh well, you might know I found a pc. I just had to have. I tested it like I've learned from all of you by holding it up to ck to see if I could see through it. Then I ck'd the edges for fringing. It passed the test so bought 3 yrs. At $2.95/yd. that was a bargain.
I asked the clerk if she knew of a plan to phase out the fabric dept. She said "why would they"? I guess she hasn't heard the word. But she said that no there were no plans. I'm wondering if she just isn't an insider,.

Managers here in Az. claim fabric dept. not making enough money. Some how the fabric keeps disappearing! I have tried the 800 number several times. The short its about money & our calls apparently worth nothing. Boy am I going to miss it when its gone here--end of July!

I totally agree w/ you about Wally-World fabric. All of mine here in Fl are phasing out fabric. I only have one place to buy, Joanns. I wait for their 40% off ads before I buy. We do have a Quilt Store in Sarasota, but they have nothing under $9/$10 a yard and I think that's way too much. I always have to feel the fabric, so I don't order from the net. Do any of you girls remember when our Grandmother's cut up old clothing for quilts? They never bought new fabric.Unlike us, they made quilts from necessity, not for pleasure. I'm thinking of trying some thrift stores for good solid items that I can cut and use for quilts. Big skirts would be good I think.
Happy Quilting.
