My spirits would be lifted and then it was time to go home so I'd put it all back (I didn't have a lot of money to spare for quilting and didn't know about guilds and groups out there and this was before computers).
Now when the bad mood hits I dig out my quilt magazines and start dreaming up my next project. Unless, of course, there's chocolate in the house....

For entertainment, we would walk to the mall and "shop" for everything. We picked out china, sterling silver, crystal stemware, artwork, furniture, small appliances, ...you name it. Of course we couldn't buy a thing, but we sure spent a lot of time dreaming. ;)

I go to a big Barnes and Nobles and read all the quilting magazines. I may spend 1/2 day there. I look at all the quilting books and then browse the recipe books. I have a cup of coffee and biscotti and I feel so much better. Cheap and excellent therapy for me.

Another thing I do is have friends over to sew. When times are tough and there's no extra money to go fabric shopping I invite my 4 best friends over for some sewing therapy. Everyone brings a little something to eat and we spend the day laughing and sewing. A few months ago we go together and swapped fabrics and some UFO's. Everyone went home happy because they got something new, got rid of something they didn't want and didn't spend a dime! We've decided we need to do this again. Sure brings all of us out of a funk.
