Yes, Lone Star with all the diamonds is not a beginner quilt. The more angles in a block, the more difficult. A 9-patch block is very versatile. In an alternating setting with a solid block, you get a Single Irish Chain. Good luck to you. Nine patch was the first quilt blocks I ever did because my grandmother started me on that pattern.

Hello and welcome from SW Iowa. Glad to have you here. I wouldn't start with a lonestar. Most of it is cut on the bias and can be challenging to work with.

I agree, those bias edges can be a bit tricky for a first quilt :wink:

I love my machine. I keep the manual close. LOL This past weekend had my started my 11 year old grand daughter sewing. She made her first pillow.
