Thanks for your reply. Being truly a beginner and not having used my sewing machine in years........well all I can say is that I am going to search out other resources. One of the LQS offers classes for 2 or more people and teaches what they want to know. So.......think I will follow that route.

Thanks for your reply. I am going to ask for a partial refund. My husband said to just chalk it up to experience...... I did have to provide all my supplies except for the sewing machine. Oh and as a bonus... got to keep the sewing machine needle..
And lets add insult to injury...having never quilted before and not "knowing", I bought a fabric that she wouldn't let me use so I had to spend more $$ to get different fabrics. Add insult to injury.....

One other thing - you say " will quilt for tattoos" I am thinking about getting one (tattoo) and I am looking for a kindly dragon design - any hints as to where to look. Everything I have googled has come up with the more determined or ferocious.

Thanks Pat.
I believe that is exactly what I am going to do!
I launched on a queen size quilt project with 4 x 4 squares pieced together. Ran into an issue with fabric. Didn't know I was supposed to use all cottons - see TRULY a beginner!! So, have to take it apart and re-configure! :D.
Although, I am thinking before I put it back together I may work all three layers and then piece together, that way I can quilt it? Eh... don't know yet..need to read some more on the how to and using my machine to do the quilting blocks.
So many ideas...... :-)
I thought if I did something like this that it would be a good experience.
Thanks again.

i had similar experience at ou local hancocks. i took the day off from work looking for a fun day of sewing/quilting; was put in a very small room with 5 other ladies,a few tables, and 1 iron/ironing board. the teacher was 30 minutes late, then she said we should not have pre-washed our fabric as it was a rag quilt, but i had.she was not nice about it. i told her i washed it because 1 piece was white and 1 piece was black, and boy did it run. then, one of the ladies wanted to make a different size quilt then the rest of us and she couldn't even do the math to re-size the quilt. i got up and left went home and made my own rag quilt. no more classes at hancock's!! yes, i got a store credit for my money.
