You are right Bakersfield is not that far from So CA. I used to come up there for work meetings on occasion. If the price is right, I might be able to come too. I always get so much done at retreats.

I would also like information. I would love to get together if it is in the early spring.

There is one held at Bass Lake CA, hosted by Quilters Paradise of Clovis, CA. There are 3 different session dates. Here's a link:

I have a friend that usually does two in Southern Calif. each year. PM me your email and I will send it on to her. She started with one in the fall of 2002 and eventually added a spring retreat as well. The ladies that go are really great. You'd have a wonderful time.

also contact the quilt shops in the areas and see if they can help sponsor a quilting retreat so they can teach and also can get rooms at a discount

Some of the quilt shops here have them, specifically Rosies. Our guild also participates in one in Temecula that is hosted in a convent. But I know those are too far for you.

I have always dreamed about going to Asilomar but beyond my budget.... http://www.emptyspoolsseminars.com/

Well get something figured out this spring, if nothing else a Meet and Greet, There are places in this area, are pretty sure can book, if we buy lunch. May check with a couple of overnight places, not too far away, may not have a teacher or speaker, but could be fun anyway. Some that I've looked into are pretty pricey, and as I blush, would rather spend that on fabric.:)
