Hmmm I love applique and it would look great incorporated in the quilt but maybe in the border rather than in the basket. You could quilt a flower design in the baskets. Or maybe every other block with a flower(s)? Just a thought. It is such a pretty dainty fabric, I love the flowers with it.

I like it best without the flower. And it will be faster to complete without the flowers.

I like it without; but maybe alternate some with and some without. Perhaps a bit smaller flower as well. This is going to be a gorgeous finished quilt.

Maybe instead of the applique you can free motion flowers in the open spaces?
