I married him because he was like my father whom I loved dearly. He is a great listener, spoils me rotten, and all chores are 50/50. His mom did a great job, don't you think. We celebrated our 47th. anniversary yesterday. And you know what, we did just what we wanted to do, just be ourselves.

Guess that is what u did in my day. Graduate from high school, get a job then get married. We were married for 57 years, many up's and down's but weathered them all for all those years. He died two months ago, I was feeling really down and then some how this Forum appeared - and now you gals are the first ones in the morning. Thank you

Because I loved him. That being said there were other reasons. He was my best friend. We had so much in common, likes/dislikes and he adored me. No one had ever adored me. That was very compelling. Also he made me laugh. All of those things were very appealing to me. They still are 38 years later. We have had our problems. No marriage is perfect, but I can say honestly I would do it all over again. Now that the kids are gone and it is just the two of us it is getting better and better.

45 years later, he is still the person I can tell anything to and he will listen. We were actually friends for about 10 years before we finally realized there was more there than friendship. So 45 years and counting and still crazy in love.

He was a good man, and I wanted to get married. I wanted to get married and have babies from when I was a little girl. We'll be married 36 years in May. I had my babies first, then finished college at age 33. Got my master's degree at age 40. I wanted dessert first!

Because I was crazy in love with this guy! He was so gentle and kind; treating me like I was someone "special". May I add that 35 years this June, he still does. I came from a very abusive relationship. His marriage failed when his wife ran off with the postman (literally. He raised his kids by himself. What does that say about his character? Our love has grown over the years. No children together but he has 7 from his first marriage; I have 4 from my first marriage. Together we have a large family! :) He is definitely a "keeper".
