I also buy extra 1/4 to 1/5 yd and cutting two of each strip which I have found to be best for doing a nice sized quilt, smile. Thanks for the idea of jelly rolls and charms packs in baskets. That's perfect for getting my unused baskets into service.

I started doing the same thing, placing my charm packs and fat quarters in a basket but I do not have strips in any of my baskets. I think i will also place them in my basket to.

When I finish a quilting project, I cut all the leftover fabric in 2.5" strips.

I never buy pre-cut rolls or fat quarters...I only buy in yardage and cut my own stuff.

I bought a brand called "stripz" from Joanns that were hugely inaccurate. Found Moda's jelly rolls to be perfect.
I hate to say but I totally agree about JoAnn's..... I use to but the block of the month and quit....They were all wanky and short on the material needed...... Moda is the only one I buy

I have a lot of money invested with my mats, rotary cutters and rulers and have no problem cutting my own 2½ strips. I like cutting my own charms too, because the ones that have the pinked edges aren't always 5" square because of that.

Moda jelly rolls and charm packs have always been perfect when I've purchased them :)

mmmmmm... I have thought about this to manage my scraps before they get out of hand. Glad to hear some of you do it and like it. I thought i would. But have not found TONS of jelly roll patterns. I have a book that has friendship braid in it but don't have a lot of jelly roll books to choose from. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I do cut my own, as the packaged strips are too expensive IMHO. I just have bins of strips that are 1.25", 1.5", 2.5", and 3.5". :)
