    I agree, you use muscles in your abdomen when you lift your leg to move your foot up and down. Same as driving and pushing down on the gas pedal or brakes. Our bodies are intricately connected, please follow orders to avoid complications.

    I had this on my post surgical papers also. The nurse said it was because most sewers sit bent over at the machine and it puts pressure on the abdominal muscles whereas sitting in a chair you tend to recline back.
